Michael Vaughan hasn’t yet started his training for Strictly Come Dancing, it has been reported.
The cricket champion was confirmed as a contestant for the BBC show last week and on Saturday night was seen being paired with stunning Australian professional dancer Natalie Lowe for the series.
However, even her good looks and fab figure hasn’t been able to tempt Michael into rehearsals and it’s been revealed today that he has delayed the start of his practice sessions, until he wraps up a few work commitments in Scotland.
Insiders claim that Lowe is ‘disappointed’ in his decision, as she is determined to make Vaughan into one of the most accomplished contestants to appear in the series, after finding out that bosses are thinking of replacing her next year.
The Sun claims that some of the pro dancers are on trial during the 2012 run, with producers watching them closely before deciding whether or not to offer them a contract for 2013.
An insider told the newspaper: “Michael didn’t want to cancel the events he had planned, so he will be lagging behind most of his rivals as far as training is concerned.
“He doesn’t seem too worried about the delay, but Natalie is disappointed they couldn’t start sooner. She is very competitive and wants to win.
The source added: “She also feels there is more pressure this year because the bosses are trying out two American pro dancers – Lacey Schwimmer and Mark Ballas.”
We can see why Natalie would be upset, as a number of other stars are working late nights and long hours, trying to fit their training around their hectic schedules.
Lisa Riley is currently in Glasgow filming for BBC drama Waterloo Road. Her professional partner Robin Windsor has travelled up to Scotland and in between her shoots, the pair are rehearsing in a nearby dance studio.
She tweeted yesterday admitting:
‘Morning training session done now of to Waterloo film one scene and then back for session two! My feet are killing me but must plow through!’
She’s off to Manchester tomorrow and added:
‘Last day filming in Glasgow then me and @robinwindsor after training are back to my hometown of Manchester!dance better at home!’
Thankfully, Michael is beginning his rehearsals today and he tweeted a few hours ago:
‘Wish me luck today.. Got to take orders from a Aussie…!!! @RealNatalieLowe !!’
We can’t wait to see how he does on the first live show! Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens on the 5th of October. Are you excited? Leave your comments below….
