This evening saw the quarter finals of Strictly Come Dancing as Ashley Taylor Dawson and his professional partner Ola Jordan took to the dance floor to perform the Salsa. They danced to Gloria Estefan’s ‘Conga’.
In his VT, Ashley said that last Saturday was a roller coaster and it would mean the world to him to get through to the semi finals. Unfortunately, the Salsa is so fast and hard to remember. As a treat, Ola brought in his fellow castmates from the set of Hollyoaks.
Last week, Ashley saw himself in the bottom two with Mark Benton after the pair received the least amount of votes of the night. Ashley managed to score 35 points, putting him third from the bottom on the leaderboard. Len told him that he saw a “whole new side” to him in the dance whilst Bruno said it was all “so exotic with a touch of the erotic”.
- Craig Revel Horwood: “It actually put a smile on my face. You do have hip action but sadly, it’s only side to side. You need to get rotation in there. It lacked a certain ease this dance should have and it was a really ambitious routine… although, I have to commend you, those lifts were amazing”.
- Darcey Bussell: “It was packed with so much energy. It was so impressive.”
- Len Goodman: “That’s the way to get the party started with plenty of tricks.. there was a couple of little moments but it was a full on routine.. my main concern was needing a bit more hip action. Energy… incredible”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “That was a Salsa with so much spice! My heart was pounding as I really thought he was never going to go through with this. I have to admire that you approached this quarter final with so much intent. There was a couple of incidents but I’m telling you, this is the right attitude”.
Ashley & Ola received a combined score of 35 with an 8 from Craig, a 9 from Darcey, a 9 from Len and a 9 from Bruno.
Strictly Come Dancing returns tomorrow evening with the all important results show.
