If Fiona Fullerton’s comments are anything to go by, then newsreader and breakfast presenter Susanna Reid was more of a dark horse than we first thought on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Bond girl has SLAMMED Reid in her Telegraph column, virtually saying that everyone hated her on the show and there was even awkward encounters between Reid and co-presenter Tess Daly. Meow!
Fiona, 57, wrote in her column: “[She] approached this competition with a PR campaign driven with military precision.
“There was definitely an Obama-style use of social media and a lack of charm that left most of us bewildered”.
We’ve got to say, this is a side to Susanna that we certainly didn’t see and she always seemed to come across well on TV, but don’t they all? Or is this just Fiona Fullerton having a dose of what one would call sour grapes?
Well, according to the actress, even Tess Daly didn’t like her, which is quite a bold claim to make.
“Every time [Susanna] entered Tess’ room, there were uncomfortable mutterings. It seemed she’d convinced the media she was the outright winner”.
At Fiona’s age, let’s hope those mutter’s weren’t just in her head…
She went on to add: “All those votes from Grimsby couldn’t save Susanna Reid.” Ouch!
On Saturday evening, Susanna Reid made it to the final three in the spectacular finale, along with Abbey Clancy and Natalie Gumede. In the end, Susanna was beaten to pole position by model and wag, Abbey Clancy as she lifted the Glitterball Trophy with her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec.
If Fullerton’s comment’s are anything to go by, we reckon Reid would have been raging backstage, as she was the bookie’s favourite to take the trophy at one point in one of the closest-fought finale’s have ever seen on the show.
