Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood doesn’t mince his words – though ‘mince’ is often a word associated with the fabulously camp star – and it seems neither does fellow judge Darcey Bussell, given that she’s claimed she’s often “disgusted” by what catty Craig has to say!
She made her remarks about Craig when asked if she’s ever shocked by some of the comments he makes to contestants on the BBC dance show.
She said, “I’m always shocked. Disgusted.”
However, Female First report that she added, “I cannot keep a straight face, but he keeps totally still and never cracks.
“He knows what he’s looking for and it’s often different from the rest of us.”
The interview then moved on to discussion about just how much longer veteran entertainer and Strictly host Sir Bruce Forsyth can continue to present the show, given he’s now 85 years old.
Darcey said, “I don’t know. I’m just lucky that I grew up watching all the incredible shows he’s done.
“He’s one of those extraordinary professionals who can pull it off every week.”
However, the man himself recently said that he’s not going to consider retiring until he absolutely has to.
He said, “When the time is up I’ll be ready for it.
“I probably won’t be very happy about it. But I’ll know it’s time to go.”
To The Sun, Sir Bruce added, “If I was to leave Strictly Come Dancing, I wouldn’t retire. That’s the furthest thing from my mind at the moment.
“While I’m able to walk and play golf I’ll still work.”
However he did concede that he often finds the Strictly schedule to be tough going.
He said, “The constant week-after-week can drag you down, especially when you are getting older.”
He added, “I know I’m on borrowed time. There’s no getting away from it.
“When I look at all my friends that have gone – Eric Sykes, Frankie Howerd, Sammy Davis Jr – I know I’m on borrowed time.
“How I’m still here I just don’t know. I don’t know how, why or wherefore. But I’m not really questioning it that much.
“The day will come and it could be tomorrow, who knows?”
Well, here’s hoping it doesn’t!
