This year’s Strictly Come Dancing seems to be riddled with injury, and this week the curse has claimed another victim – Fiona Fullerton!
So far this series, which is only 5 weeks in, viewers have seen former Corrie actress, Natalie Gumede, damaging a disc in her back leaving fans wondering if she would be able to compete again, as well as last week watching as Patrick Robinson had to change his entire routine less than a day before the live show to allow him to perform with only one hand after a wrist injury.
And now it would seem that former Bond girl Fiona Fullerton has obtained an injury to her ankle, leaving a question mark hanging over whether she will be able to compete in tonight’s live show.
Fiona, who is scheduled to dance a Charleston with her professional dance partner Anton du Beke for tonight’s Halloween themed special, sprained her ankle during training this week.
Her daughter took a photo of the star with her foot up and wrapped in a tea towel and posted it on social networking site, Twitter, along with the caption:
“Uh oh… Mummy has sprained her ankle #ouchie #toomuchdancing #scd”.
Meanwhile the star herself took to her Guardian blog to confirm the mishap, writing:
“Training for the Charleston this week was interrupted on Tuesday when the heel on my dance shoe decided to detach itself and sent me flying across the floor, spraining my ankle in the process. Anton laughed. I got very cross.”
The news sparked worry amongst fans that Fiona and Anton would not be able to dance tonight because of the injury, however after some TLC and lots of rest it is now said that Fiona and Anton will indeed take to the dance floor to perform their Charleston to Al Donahue’s Jeepers Creepers on the hit BBC1 dance competition tonight, the training for which Fiona commented earlier this week:
“It’s been great fun practising. I can’t wait to do it for real on Saturday.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.30pm on BBC1/BBC1 HD – Watch Fiona and Anton’s performance from last week in the clip below:
