Strictly Come Dancing 2013: Fiona Fullerton’s American Smooth was more “economy class” than “first class”

Fiona Fullerton and Anton Du Beke performed the Amiercan Smooth to Frank Sinatra’s Come Fly With Me on this evening’s show.

In her VT, Fiona said that she really enjoyed the Paso Doble last week and she liked how it went. However, the thought of the twists during tonight’s American Smooth is terrifying her.

Unfortunately, Fiona danced a rather “forgettable” Paso Doble last week, scoring just 26 points. Craig said that her timing was “absolutely precise” but the dance was “forgettable”. Bruno added that Fiona was a better dancer than Anton.

The dance had an airport theme with Anton dressed as a pilot and some cabin-crew dancers were also on the dance floor. I wouldn’t say it was Fiona’s best dance of the series, it all seemed a bit gimmicky tonight. Will Fiona be departing the show this weekend?!

Judges Comments

  • Craig Revel Horwood: “I would have liked to have seen it a little smoother throughout. The timing was out of waco unfortunately and the pivot wasn’t good and getting into the last lift was an absolute disaster”.
  • Darcey Bussell: “I love the style you gave it, there were some lovely little details you gave. It is the preparation into those lifts and the position in the lift – it was a little turned out in that last lift”.
  • Len Goodman: “I thought the attitude was first-class, the movement was business class and the lifts were a little economy. It had an air of style and class about it”.
  • Bruno Tonioli: “VIP lounge for you darling and we don’t like travel light. You had the attitude, it was very elegant. It’s when you change direction, sometimes you don’t realise. You have to iron it out”.

Scores

Fiona & Anton received a combined score of 29 with a 6 from Craig, a 7 from Darcey, an 8 from Len and an 8 from Bruno.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:15pm with the all important results on BBC One.
