Strictly Come Dancing 2013: Great British Bake Off star Paul Hollywood said no to Strictly stint in the wake of his marriage break up!
Fans of The Great British Bake Off will no doubt be aware that star chef Paul Hollywood has been the focus of a few headlines of late as it was alleged that his marriage ended in the wake of his relationship with The American Baking Competition co-host Marcela Valladolid.
When the news first broke in the media, the Mail Online reported, “Ending his 15-year marriage to Alexandra, Paul, 46, is devastated that the stress of the break up has physically affected his son Joshua.”
And it’s been reported in the Mirror this morning that it’s in order to focus on Joshua that Paul has turned down an offer from Strictly Come Dancing bosses to join the show’s new series.
He recently told The Sun, “My son got quite ill, nosebleeds, he was quite upset — and I don’t want to bring that back. My son is my life.
“It is my fault and that’s why he went through what he went through. That’s my biggest scare.”
He added, “I’m very sad about what it brought on the family – but the people that matter in my life, they have the truth.”
Of Paul’s decision to turn down a stint on SCD, a source close to him said, “Paul is putting his family first.
“He is determined to make time for his son, Strictly is not an option.
“Despite problems off screen, his career is on the rise.”
The names of the celebrities who’ve signed up for the new series of Strictly will be revealed next month, and the show will of course return to our screens in the autumn.
