Fashion Designer Julien Macdonald has made it pretty clear that he is “not a shrinking violet” and won’t be taking any rubbish from the judges.
We do love the fiery contestants on Strictly Come Dancing and Julien is definitely going to be giving as good as he gets this year. He says that if the feedback is constructive then he will take it on the chin, but if not he’s going to “disagree with them”.
Speaking at the Strictly Come Dancing 2013 launch show on Wednesday (September 4) evening, Julien said: “I have said it before when I watch the show, I’ll never understand why all the celebs just stand there and take a grilling from the judges.
“At the end of the day, if you have been working weeks to perfect a dance and the judges say ‘by the way, you’re shit’ and you say ‘Actually, at the end of the day I have been doing this all week, is there one part of it that is good? Or what am I doing wrong?’ I’m definitely not a shrinking violet so the thing is, if they give me constructive criticism then I will take it. However, if they don’t, I will disagree with them.
“I am not afraid of them. They may be experts in their field but I am going to give it my best shot.”
When asked if he is ready for Craig’s comments, Julien added: “I know Craig is going to wind me up anyway, it has already started. The thing is, Craig knows that if he says something to me, I’m going to give it to him back!”
Meanwhile, he added that he’s looking forward to doing some of the fun dances such as the Cha-Cha-Cha and the Salsa. However, he is dreading the Waltz and the Fox Trot.
Strictly Come Dancing kicks of this Saturday (September 7) at 6:50pm on BBC One/HD.
