This evening, professional rugby player Ben Cohen and his professional dance partner Kristina Rihanoff took to the dance floor for the first time.
Tonight, Ben and his professional partner Kristina danced the Cha Cha to John Newman’s Love Me Again.
In his VT, Ben said: “I’m a family man and my wife and children mean so much to me. My kids love dancing they go to dancing lessons and it would be great to join in.”.
“When I was told I’d got Ben, I was so excited! I think everyone saw me glowing on the night,” Kristina said.
As we have seen with many of the celebrities this year, Ben has been having a spot of bother getting close to his partner, Kristina. Of course, Ben is happily married which is why he’s been finding it hard to get that intimate vibe going. He said: “My wife and I were childhood sweethearts, so that is something I’m finding difficult”.
Bruno Tonioli said: “Oh Ben! You are a beefy beast. If you need help with those muscles, I feel there’s a lot to handle. You need a bit of help – you started very well but you have a lot of bulk to move. You lost a bit of timing. Full of promises!”.
Len Goodman added: “Big Ben, ding dong! This competition is like a rugby match. Last night we had the first half and tonight we have the second half. your footwork was terrific. When you get nervous, you speed up as you want to finish it. You lost your timing here and there.”.
Darcy Bussell told the pair: “You should be very proud of your upper body, it is very impressive. Use it, use the waist, be proud of it. Don’t think ‘Oh God, I have all this bulk’ … use it!”.
“It did affect me, I have seen breeze blocks with more movement. It was out of time. There was a host of things but I haven’t got time,” added Craig Revel Horwood.
Speaking about his first dance of the series, Ben told Tess Daly: “It was so nerve-wrecking. Two weeks ago, I’d never danced in my life so it has been an incredible two weeks.”.
In total, Ben and Kristina scored 19 with a 3 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 5 from Darcey Bussell, a 6 from Len Goodman and a 5 from Bruno Toniloi.
This week, no couples will be leaving the competition. The judges scores will be carried across to next week’s show in which two celebrity couples will be given the boot.
Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday on BBC One/HD.
