Tonight, Patrick professional partner Anya danced the Jive to Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars and he definitely ran away with the judges’ scores tonight. He received a standing ovation from the audience and brilliant feedback from the judges.
In his VT, Patrick said: “Being myself on national TV is very difficult. It’s one of the reasons actors become actors as being themselves is quite tricky as I’m quite shy. My 50th birthday is coming up and it would be great if I could be the oldest winner”.
“When I heard I was dancing with Patrick, I couldn’t believe it! I felt a connection right away!” Anya added.
Patrick may play a doctor on the BBC’s Casualty, but that hasn’t stopped him from picking up injuring along the way during rehearsals. He has had to wear knee supports recently due to the excessive training for tonight’s Jive. His professional partner, Anya has also had a spot of bother over the last week!
Bruno Tonioli said: “I love someone that goes for it all guns blazing, just work on the refinement and detail”.
Len Goodman added: “That Jive was alive! What you lacked in technique, you made up with enthusiasm, energy and attack”.
Darcy Bussell told the pair: “The Jive is a very hard dance. You don’t need to worry, your energy levels were brilliant. You get those flappy feet…stretch them on each kick”.
“The rhythm and energy was absolutely fantastic. You need to sort your flat feet out… get onto your balls!,” added Craig Revel Horwood.
Speaking about his first dance of the series, Patrick told Tess Daly: “I can’t speak! That’s fantastic. It was scary but it worked”.
In total, Patrick and Anya scored 28 with a 7 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 7 from Darcey Bussell, a 7 from Len Goodman and a 7 from Bruno Toniloi.
This week, no couples will be leaving the competition. The judges scores will be carried across to next week’s show in which two celebrity couples will be given the boot.
Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday on BBC One/HD.
