Strictly Come Dancing 2013 Live Shows: Rachel Riley’s Quickstep didn’t steal the judges away, lacked “quality”

Strictly Come Dancing

This evening, Rachel Riley and her professional partner Pasha Kovalev danced the Quickstep to Imelda May’s ‘Johnny Got a Boom’. Rachel got good comments about her confidence last week, so it was definitely something for her to build on with tonight’s Quickstep.

Rachel said that she was a little scared about the dance last week as she had to get herself into the zone, but she enjoyed it. To go from 20 to 27 points was a great moment for Rachel. This week it’s the quickstep and to ease her in, Rachel and Pasha played a game of Squash – which Rachel won!

Last week, Rachel & Pasha scored a total of 27. Darcey said she had a lot more confidence, but Craig grunted that the “look of concentration on your face was startling”. Len noticed her hips work working, mind.

The theme of tonight’s dance was that they were trying to rob a bank safe… or something of the sort anyway. Either way, Rachel looked dashing in her leopard print shirt, but the mustard trousers didn’t do anything for me. The Quickstep is as the name suggests… quick and there were a few mistakes along the way.

Judges Comments

  • Len Goodman: “The quantity of steps were there, but it wasn’t the quality of steps. As it went on, you lost your posture a bit”.
  • Bruno Tonioli: “You tricky girl, you just about got away with it. Plenty of content but what you need is control”.
  • Craig Revel Horwood: “The thing that let that down was your top line, but I felt like you were being thrown about. You must tighten your bum cheeks…”
  • Darcey Bussell: “Pasha have you a very challenging dance, but watch your grip on his shoulder. It’s about strengthening your core, but you did a good job”.

Both Rachel & Pasha received a combined score of 26 with a 5 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 7 from Darcey Bussell, a 7 from Len Goodman and a 7 from Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:15pm on BBC One.

I didn’t get the theme and styling, either, I assumed it was referencing a movie?
