The very talented Sophie Ellis-Bextor took to the dance floor once again this week with her professional partner Brendan Cole to dance the Foxtrot to Cheek to Cheek by Dick Haymes.
In her VT, Sophie said dancing the Samba was a big challenge for her and she was full of nerves. She added that the Latin numbers are risky, but she got through it and enjoyed it. To help with this week’s Foxtrot, she went vintage clothes shopping to get into the mood of the era… of course, just to get her in the mood. Brendan didn’t look too happy.
Last week, Sophie danced her wedding dance and it scored a massive 31 points. Craig said he loved it, whilst Bruno said it was very “sophisticated”.
This week, Sophie worse a beautiful shimmering Great Gatsby-esque dress, and glided her way across the dancefloor with ease and grace. It was quite a slow dance for Sophie and Brendan this week, but I have to say, she excels with the faster dances where she’s not in hold as much.
- Len Goodman: “No messing about, straight into the routine, none of that silly stuff going on. What more do you want? Fabulous”
- Bruno Tonioli: “You look like a Hollywood star from the Hollywood era. What I like is when you take a turn you hold it before you go into the next one. Lovely to see”.
- Craig Revel Horwood: “Your top line is suffering somewhat, but it was elegant, it was graceful and the movement was exquisite”.
- Darcey Bussell: “You created such ease, travelling and gliding. When you create that spin, don’t like the shoulders rise, but that’s the only thing”.
Both Sophie & Brendan received a combined score of 35 with an 8 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 9 from Darcey Bussell, a 9 from Len Goodman and a 9 from Bruno Tonioli.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:15pm on BBC One.
