This evening, Dave Myers and his professional partner Karen Hauer took to the dance floor for love week. The celebrity chef indulged in a little bit of cape swishing in rehearsal, but decided to blow off the dancing for a ride on his motorbike. Can you spot the tenuous link to the song they’ll be dancing to?
Yes, they’re dancing the Paso Doble to Meat Loaf’s rock epic I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That). Dave comes out on stage looking for all the world like a cheaply dressed Dracula. And so begins more matador madness. We’re tickled that his leather jacket has his name inside a big pink heart. Very butch, Dave!
The routine is actually quite brilliant. Karen Hauer has embraced the madness with her choreography, creating a dance that is a passionate and befitting of the Pasa Doble, but also the craziness of her partner. The crowd were wild by the end of the routine! Going to Craig for the first comment, Dave quipped “It’s like a bulldog eating pickles.”
Last week, Dave and Karen received a total of 17 points. Bruno told him it was like something from a disaster movie. He cooked up more of a stink than a storm.
- Craig Revel Horwood: “One word. Dreadful.”
- Darcey Bussell: “Maybe not a matador…the conviction, I laughed. I nearly cried.”
- Len Goodman: “It was like being waxed. It was painful when it was happening, and lovely when it’s over. Dave, you’re not the judges’ champion, but you’re the people’s champion.”
- Bruno Tonioli: “This tops everything I’ve ever seen. Your face, you looked like you were smelling bad cheese.”
Speaking to Tess following his dance, Dave said: “It’s arrogance, confidence. It’s all attitude.”
Both Dave and Karen received a combined score of 16 with a 2 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 5 from Darcey Bussell, a 5 from Len Goodman and a 4 from Bunro Tonioli.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm on BBC One.
