This evening, Strictly Come Dancing’s resident comedy contestant Mark Benton and his professional partner Iveta Lukosiute took to the dance floor for love week. Iveta warns him to stay the hell out of her dance space in rehearsal. Mark talks briefly about how family friendly Strictly is, that all his family can watch his performances.
The pair danced the American Smooth to It Must Be Love by Madness. Is it really worth going into this performance with high expectations? I know Mark can’t help it, but he’s got such a cheesy expression on his face all the time, it’s impossible to take him seriously. That said, this is a more polished performance than I honestly expected. Well done to Mark and Iveta.
Last week, Mark and Iveta scored a total of 22 points. Craig said it was a tad “disjointed” and Bruno didn’t know whether he was watching a “psychedelic rave” or not.
- Bruno Tonioli: “I tell you, you can tell a story. You played it beautifully. There were a couple of rough passages, but as storytelling goes, it was perfect.”
- Craig Revel Horwood: “You definitely are a fantastic storyteller, but you have got to work on your hands. They are ruining things for you.”
- Darcey Bussell: “I did miss the glamour and flare of the American Smooth, but you dance a little small for such a tall gentleman. Use your height. Keep working on that technique.”
- Len Goodman: “You capture the essence of every dance. Every dance has a character to it. I’m not saying the dancing is top notch, but you get it and that’s great.”
Both Mark & Iveta received a combined score of 26 with a 6 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 6 from Darcey Bussell, a 7 from Len Goodman and a 7 from Bunro Tonioli.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm on BBC One.
