Strictly Come Dancing 2013: Natalie Gumede’s “sensational” Charleston was full of “personality and character”

by Nick Barnes

Natalie Gumede and her professional partner Artem Chigvintsev shone through this evening with their amazing Charleston to’s Bang Bang. Not to mention, Natalie was back on home turf this week as Strictly is up north in Blackpool.

Last week during rehearsals on Saturday morning, Natalie passed out, but also passed out a second time during dress rehearsals, but she says she is so excited to be a part of the show. “We were down last week obviously, but we’re not out,” she explained.

Unfortunately, Natalie had a bit of a bad week last week as she fainted during dress rehearsals. As a result, she was ruled out of last week’s main show and was given a ‘bye’ through to this week, per show rules. However, Natalie said on It Takes Two earlier this week that she is ready to go this week and has been working extremely hard on perfecting the Charleston.

Natalie’s Charleston had a Great Gatsby feel to it this week and was nothing short off perfect. In and out of hold she never fails to impress. Full of technique and energy. Complete with a standing ovation.

  • Craig Revel Horwood: “I love the modern twist of that whole dance, the whole thing was sensational”.
  • Darcey Bussell: “It’s true – you always give us beautiful, beautiful details. This time you added something new – personality and character that was a joy to watch”.
  • Len Goodman: “Like the Blackpool illuminations – spectacular!”
  • Bruno Tonioli: “I tell you, your party could go on forever. A suitable finale for a great night in Blackpool”.

Natalie & Artem received a combined score of 39 with a 9 from Craig, a 10 from Darcey, a 10 from Len and a 10 from Bruno.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:15pm with the all important results on BBC One.

It was rubbish, nowhere near as good as Sophie’s and certainly did not deserve any 10 score paddles. The judges marked this one totally wrong. And while I’m at it, how on earth could they give Ben 4 x 8’s? Patrick and Sophie were both under-marked too.
