Last week, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her professional partner Brendan Cole danced the Samba, receiving a combined score of 31.
Speaking to Zoe Ball on ‘It Takes Two’ last night (October 16), Sophie said that she could have done with another couple of days in rehearsal. Not only that, the worst thing that could ever happen… happened during her dress rehearsal.
“I really enjoyed it when we were actually dancing it [but] I stressed about it all week. It was the hardest dance for me so far,” Sophie said when asked if she enjoyed Saturday’s Samba.
She went on to say that she could have done with a couple more days rehearsing the dance to really master it. “There’s always a lot going on all of the time, it’s very technical,” she added.
Brendon said of Saturday: “She did it superbly. I have a lot of faith in Sophie, she is a natural dancer”.
The dance was Sophie’s wedding dance, and she said it was a tad strange to be dancing her wedding dance with someone other than her husband, but her husband enjoyed it and she liked the song, which helped her get into the mood of the dance.
Sophie also revealed that she fell over whilst she was dancing during rehearsals last Saturday before the live show, which wasn’t too good. “I got my heel quite spectacularly caught in my frock and went down, not once, but twice. I kept landing on my bum,” she explained.
This week, the pair will be dancing the Foxtrot. Sophie said of the dance: “I’m really chuffed with this one actually. I think the Foxtrot is a lovely dance and my granny is coming on Saturday. I’m so happy that she will get to see this one”.
Brendan added that this week’s Foxtrot is tricky and technical, but he wants the high scores for Sophie.
Tune into Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday, October 18 at 6:30pm on BBC One/HD.
