Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 2013 Elaine Paige

Next up on tonight’s special festive episode of Strictly Come dancing is Elaine Paige and her professional partner Pasha Kovalev. Elaine is a theatre actress and has appeared in some massive West End hits such as Cats. This evening, the pair danced the cha cha.

In her VT, Elaine said she loves Strictly Come Dancing glamour and glitzy costumes. When she found out she was dancing with Pasha, she said she thought “Perfect! Perfect Pasha!” In a bid to get Elaine to stop laughing in training, Pasha brought in a box of Christmas crackers to see if she would laugh at the jokes. “Elaine’s got everything to make this dance very, very special,” Pasha added.

The scene for Elaine’s dance was a tad different as she had a little red car on set with a Christmas tree poking out of the roof. Surprisingly (yes, I was surprised) Elaine is quite the mover. Maybe not technically on point, but she can certainly move.

Judges Comments

  • Craig Revel Horwood: “As a seasoned veteran darling of the theatre, we would expect nothing less than brilliant and that was brilliant”.
  • Darcey Bussell: “You are certainly a nifty little mover, the cha cha is made for you. From the first step, you took charge of Pasha and it was a sparkling dance”.
  • Len Goodman: “Elaine, I have to tell you, you jingled my bells… lovely timing, I think you did a wonderful job”.
  • Bruno Tonioli: “Carry on Christmas with all the bells and whistles. Your placement, hip action and your expressiveness… I tell you, there’s plenty of mileage left in the first lady of the musical theatre”.

Scores

In total, Elaine & Pasha received a total score of 39 with a 10 from Craig, a 10 from Darcey, a 9 from Len and a 10 from Bruno.
