This evening saw the Strictly Come Dancing 2013 Christmas special and what an amazing show it was. There were firecrackers, messy party poppers and a fiery Tango that melted Darcey Bussell in all the right places…
However, there could only be one winner and this year, Rufus Hound and Flavia Cacace walked away with the Christmas Glitterball trophy.
Rufus Hound, Rochelle Humes, Elaine Paige, Matt Goss, Ricky Norwood and Sara Cox all braved the Strictly dance floor this Christmas and to say it was the first time they’d all danced ballroom, it was a pretty good effort, with the lowest score being 31 for Rochelle Hume and Ian Waite. Elaine Paige and Pasha Kovalev took the highest score of an almost perfect 39 points.
Rufus and Flavia danced a fiery Tango this evening and scored a total of 38 points, putting him in second place on the leader board. Rufus took on the role of an Eskimo and started the dance in his very own igloo. The beeb seemingly blew the budget on two Husky dogs to accompany the pair.
Craig said the Tango was the “most abnormal and curious” performance he had ever seen, whilst Darcey Bussell added that his dance “melted everything” for her – ohh err!
Len found it very entertaining, which made up for the lack of technique in the dance, and as always, Bruno Tonioli waffled on about whatever took his fancy – we find it hard to keep up with him sometimes.
Following his win, Rufus said: “It’s surreal, in the extreme. We didn’t set out to win and the fact this has happened, I don’t know what it means”.
When asked what he thinks now he has had a taste of the Ballroom, he added: “If I wanted another taste of the ballroom, they’d be serving it in a burger, Brucey”.
So, Strictly is over for yet another year! We’ll see you at the end of Summer next year when we’ll do it all over again with a whole host of new celebrities.
