Strictly Come Dancing: Dave Myer’s Tango looked “like a cramp” and didn’t receive much praise

Dad dancer Dave Myers and his professional partner Karen Hauer took to the dance floor this evening to dance the Tango to The Proclaimer’s ‘I’m Gonna Be’.

In his VT this week, Dave said last week was “absolutely epic”. He added that he’s never dreamt to get this far and his dream is to dance at the Blackpool Tower. This week is the Tango, and this week means a lot to him due to the Scottish roots. He goes on to say that he wants to bring some passion to the dance… I reckon it’ll be as bad as it always it.

Last week, the pair scored a rather abysmal 19 points, but they still managed to stay in the competition. Len, as always said that the pair had excelled themselves, whilst Craig said it was like the weather – overcast and dismal.

Dressed from head to toe in Tartan this week, Dave even had his legs out… not exactly tasteful. The kicks were off, he was out of time, but it definitely looked like he was trying to be a tad more serious this week… but still as bad as ever. And, with the way he lifted those legs up, I’m glad he wasn’t traditional under that kilt.

Judges Comments

  • Craig Revel Horwood: “Karen, I think you could write a book on how to survive a grizzly bear attack. It was a little rough around the edges. It was very stumpy, you obviously have been learning the Tango and there were some Tango steps in there”.
  • Darcey Bussell: “There was so much more dance content, there was attack and some slight passion. It gets a bit broken and stumpy in places and this is definitely one of your better dances”.
  • Len Goodman: “A bit of leg and a flash of knicker usually turns me on a bit, but this didn’t. I think you needed some more Irn Bru that’s all”.
  • Bruno Tonioli: “Oh Dave… not enough Argentina. It wasn’t any Tango at all. You were stomping around, dragging that poor girl. It was walked, it wasn’t danced… you have to dance it! You looked like a cramp”.

Both Dave & Karen received a combined score of 20 with a 4 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 6 from Darcey Bussell, a 6 from Len Goodman and a 4 from Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm on BBC One.
