Strictly Come Dancing: Fiona Fullerton’s “confident” Quickstep goes down a storm with the judges

Strictly fanatic Fiona Fullerton and her professional partner Anton Du beke took to the dance floor once again this evening to dance the Quickstep to ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’ by Sammy David Junior. Earlier this week, Fiona said that she was pretty upset with the judges comments last week.

Fiona said in her VT that she is always excited to get out on the dance floor, but something always goes wrong. “It’s like I have a little voice in my head that says ‘You can’t do this’,” she said. Fiona wants everything to be perfect and if it isn’t perfect, her brain turns to mush. She even had a little message from Sir Roger Moore – what a little pickup!

Last week, the pair scored quite a low overall score of 22 points. Bruno said the “packing was very enticing and very promising” but it lost focus and fluidity. There were also a number of mistakes in the performance.

The dance started with the pair drinking fancy wine and for some reason, she had a little hanky tucked in the top of her dress! Fiona said on It Takes Two last night that she had been enjoying the Quickstep and it showed in the dance that she’d really enjoyed dancing it. Technically on point for the most part as well.

Judges Comments

  • Len Goodman: “More confident, more focussed, more content = more points”.
  • Bruno Tonioli: “Oh yes! Fiona finally putting on the glitz. Such flair – you played it so well, you moved better. There were a couple of mistakes but you covered them perfectly”.
  • Craig Revel Horwood: “I certainly noticed some of the mistakes, but it didn’t look like it was meant to be. You flew around the floor and you’re most definitely back in the room”.
  • Darcey Bussell: “Finally! Fabulous Fiona. Keep that focus – your best dance”.

Both Fiona and Anton received a combined score of 30 with a 7 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 7 from Darcey Bussell, an 8 from Len Goodman and an 8 from Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm on BBC One.
