Strictly Come Dancing

Ashley Taylor Dawson and his professional partner Ola Jordan spooked it up for tonight’s Halloween themed episode of Strictly Come Dancing. This evening, they danced the Tango to Ne-Yo’s ‘Beautiful Monster’ – hardly a haunting song, but it has the word ‘Monster’ in it.

Last week, Ashley & Ola scored a combined score of 31 points, receiving a 7 from Craig Revel Horwood and 8s from the rest of the judges. It was unanimous that the dance was full of energy – but we’re glad we didn’t see him recovering from that knee slide!
Ashley admitted in the VT that he was excited ahead of last week’s Jive, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, leaving him hungry for more!

They have to take a much different approach to this week’s Tango than they did to the light-hearted Jive, and have been working very hard on their serious faces, but will it pay off?

Turning the dance floor into a graveyard the couple set to work flaring at each other in true zombie, and Tango style creating a seemingly effortless parade across the dry ice.  Ashley’s footwork seemed to be a little less aggressive than his monster face, but his performance and tricks had the audience up on their feet at the end of the routine!

Judges Comments

  • Len Goodman: “If you want to shine, you have to polish and it is the detail that is missing.  You have got the character and the feel of the dance it is just the small things – Get those details right, try and find the time.”
  • Bruno Tonioli: “The night stalker takes his prey, and you played it so well – You had that menacing pout.  Len is right you are at that level your performance and what you put in to it is always very very good, now you have to go to the next stage.”
  • Craig Revel Horwood: “Aggressive, dark, mysterious – I really really loved it!”
  • Darcey Bussell: “I am really attracted to the evil Ashley, that suits you, it was really good!  Only the turns and the pivots you have to watch and try and relax your neck, but it was clean it was smooth, it wa beautifully clipped – Very nice all the way through!”

Both Ashley & Ola received a combined score of 33 with a 8 from Craig Revel Horwood, a 9 from Darcey Bussell, a 8 from Len Goodlam and a 8 from Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening at 7:20pm in which another couple will be given the boot.
