If the judges did not want the public to have a say, they probably should not have made it a Saturday night entertainment show, and stuck to the professional dancing circuit. But then it would not have generated as much money as the phone votes do. I will not be watching anymore, its a pathetic example of people who think far too much of themselves, and lack a basic sense of humour.

If you look at the way the voting works the judges get to save two couples each week and the public get to save one. It is impossible for the public to vote off the couple with the highest marks and the judges can save another couple later. So it is already biased two to one for the judges. If they want a real dancing competition they should have one without celebrities and see what viewing figures they get.

The public is entitled to choose – in my case I allow for age when I vote for John and support more ordinary dance moves – the sort the public might be able to do. I did not vote for his cha-cha because I’m nearly as old as John and can do it much better; but the rest have been good for his age and previous experience.

People should realise that it is just entertainment. I have never watched reality TV shows, and it was only when the judges’ annoyance reached the broadsheets that I even heard about the show and decided to watch an episode on Sunday. By far the most amusing thing about the programme (apart, perhaps from the stunning Rachel Stevens and her attempt at clothing) was the judges irate reaction to John staying on. I will certainly cast my first ever vote next week, and it will certainly be for the fat man with dodgy ankles.

I have watched Strictly from the very beginning but I have never ever seen such a shameful series as this one. John is just a joke! It is a disgrace that good dancers like Cherie are voted off and I feel so sorry for the judges. I think the voting should change and the judges should get a bigger vote Should John still be there at the finish, I will never ever watch the show again as it is just making a mockery of dancing. I know it is entertainment, but come on you guys, you must be able to do something to get that old bear off the show as quickly as possible. It is so unfair for the other dancers. I know there can only be one winner, but they are all so good. It is disgraceful that good dancers are got rid of while that idiot remains. He was like a caveman dragging his partner across the floor a couple of weeks ago. GET HIM OFF ASAP.
