For their first dance of the evening, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her professional partner Brendan Cole danced the Paso Doble to Montagues and Capulets by Prokofiev.
Sophie said in her VT that she was very nervous about her performance last week and she;s genuinely excited to be in the semi-final. “I’ve sort of got nothing to lose,” she said. Training has taken its toll this week as they’ve of course had two dances to learn.
Over the past few weeks, the whole cast of Strictly Come Dancing have endured their fair share of bumps and bruises, but this week, Brendan Cole dropped Sophie Ellis-Bextor during training for the Paso Doble – oops! This was after she was a tad hesitant to try some of the lifts in the dance… not a way to boost her confidence, is it?
- Craig Revel Horwood: “For me it was a little too starty and stiff. It just lacked a little bit of Spanish line for me. The attitude you brought to that dance was something else!”
- Darcey Bussell: “That music is close to my heart and to equal the passion and drama is so difficult. You gave power I’ve never seen you put into a dance before. The shaping was missing but I loved the choreography”.
- Len Goodman: “The music of course has drama and you interpreted that drama through your body. I was concerned about this, but you’ve come out full on with loads of attack”.
- Bruno Tonioli: “The content, the passion and the intent in delivering it was incredible Sophie. You’ve always done what we have asked of you… to come out and to kill it”.
Sophie & Brendan received a combined score of 35 with an 8 from Craig, a 9 from Darcey, a 9 from Len and a 9 from Bruno.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow evening with the all important result. But, who is going to make it to the finale next week?
