Tess Daly has admitted that she had a very emotional day when her 4 year old daughter started school this week.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, the Strictly presenter revealed: “I was an emotional wreck watching her go, mopping my damp eyes at the school gates with all the other mums.

“I couldn’t help but remember my own school days, clock-watching for what seemed like an eternity till the bell rang at 3.30pm.

“It must seem twice as long when you’re 4! Still, she raced off without a backward glance, as I took a deep breath and tried to repair my smudged mascara.”
