In the battle of the reality TV shows, ITV’s X Factor and BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, X Factor came out on top last night, but not by much.

According to provisional figures, the X Factor’s average audience was 7.4 million, while BBC’s ballroom extravaganza attracted 7.3 million.

However, during the 45 minute period when both shows were on air, Strictly Come Dancing had the most viewers.
