Superstar: Andrew Lloyd Webber thinks Chris Moyles will need a fat suit for King Herod

Chris Moyles could need some extra padding in his clothes, when he takes to the stage in his first musical role.

The Radio 1 DJ has landed the part of King Herod in a new arena tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ but the composing genius thinks he may need some help from the wardrobe team if he is to look the part.

The formerly chubby star has slimmed down in recent months, meaning he is much more svelte than he was when he tried out for the role.

Andrew wants him to look quite rotund though, when the show begins it’s UK tour and told The Sun that his team would be taking steps to change his image.

He said:

‘The thing is we signed Chris and now he’s gone and lost all that weight. I think we are going to have to get him a fat suit.

‘Herod was a big man. So it looks like it will be a fat suit.’

Chris was announced as a cast member earlier this year and at the same time it was revealed that former Spice Girls star Mel C would play Mary Magdalene, while comedian Tim Michin will portray Judas.

Amanda Holden will present the weekly ITV show, in which Lloyd Webber, Jason Donovan and Dawn French will hunt for a singer to play Jesus and the Britain’s Got Talent judge thinks the new career move will just see Chris getting slimmer than ever.

She added:

‘Chris has lost shedloads of weight. If they stick him in a fat suit then he’ll lose loads more weight because he’ll be sweating like mad in one of those.’
