Superstar: Jon Moses made it to the final 11 thanks to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s intervention!

As fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new talent quest show Superstar will know, last night saw the first stage of live rounds…

But for one hopeful, Jon Moses, his dream of being there seemed an unattainable one as he was actually and “understudy” finalist, and would only take part in the live shows if someone else dropped out.

However, yesterday, Andrew did an about turn over Jon and informed him that he’d changed his mind and wanted him in the live shows, and of course, Jon was delighted.

He joined the other ten finalists last night, singing Kelly Clarkson’s hit, Since You’ve Been Gone, and he proved very popular with the judges.

Jason Donovan told him, “You’ve come out here today and blown the audience away…”

Dawn French added, “[That was a] belter of a performance.”

But of course, many of the other performers fared well last night too, including 24-year-old Rory Taylor and West End actor Roger Wright.

Judge Mel C told Rory, “I think we saw Rory the rockstar tonight” after he sang Lenny Kravitz’s track, Are You Gonna Go My Way, and Lloyd Webber told Roger he is a “fantastic vocalist” before adding, “I’m really glad we have you on the programme.”

Wannabe Ben Forster was chuffed when Dawn told him, “you have phenomenal range,” and Nathan James was pleased with Mel C’s comment that he is, “one of the most incredible vocalists I think I’ve ever heard.”

But of course, who carries on and who’s out depends on the public vote, the result of which will be revealed tonight, and one wannabe will leave the contest.

Superstar will run every night until the weekend, and will then be back next Monday with the final airing on Wednesday July 25.

Who stood out for you last night?
