Outgoing American Idol contestant Aaron Kelly appeared on The Today show….well today …. and chatted with the hosts about how it felt to be booted off the show last Wednesday night.

American Idol eliminee Aaron Kelly has been taking about his post Idol plans and admitted that he wants to graduate from High School before he concentrates on his music career.

Outgoing American Idol contestant Aaron Kelly has revealed that Harry Connick, Jr was his favourite mentor on this year’s show.
Harry mentored the singers during this week’s Frank Sinatra themed show and the montage of funny moments he shared with the hopefuls that aired on the results show (video below), made him our favourite of this season also.

Outgoing American Idol contestant Aaron Kelly has revealed that show judge Simon Cowell admitted that he shone during ‘Country Week’ on the show.
The 17 year old singer was eliminated after his Frank Sinatra themed performance this week and during a conference call with reporters, he revealed that Simon Cowell agreed with him on his best performance. Digital Spy quote Aaron as saying:

Outgoing American Idol contestant Aaron Kelly has refused to predict a winner for the 2010 season of the show.
The 17-year-old singer was voted off the show after this week’s Frank Sinatra themed show and during a conference call with reporters he insisted that Crystal Bowersox, Casey James, Lee Dewyze & Michael Lynche all have a chance of winning the competition. He said:
“I say this to everyone – they are all talented and I think they all have a shot at winning.”

Aaron Kelly has been kicked off American Idol, which was quite a shocking result really since most experts were expecting Casey James to get the boot.
The 17 year old singer found himself in the bottom two alongside big bodied crooner Michael Lynche on last night’s result show. Michael placement alone was enough to send shock ripples through the audience. After all the night before, his rendition of ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ caused Simon Cowell to enthuse:

Aaron Kelly opened last night’s American Idol Frank Sinatra themed show with his rendition of ‘Fly Me To The Moon,’ he was accompanied on piano by this week’s celebrity mentor Harry Connick Jr.
We liked his styling this week. Not so much of the wet head and a more conventional haircut, he looked handsome, and quite a bit older which is no bad thing. Aaron crooned his way through the song effortlessly, and his voice held up well to this genre which is very different to his normal style. He impressed Randy and Ellen but Kara and Simon weren’t so convinced!

This week’s American Idol show will follow a theme of Frank Sinatra songs and the celebrity mentor will be singer, actor, composer, and pianist Harry Connick, Jr.
Yesterday the remaining five contestants (Crystal Bowersox, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Lee Dewyze) met with the star and got the chance to practice his arrangement of their swing songs with a big band.

We knew that Shania Twain week would be a strong one for Aaron and the 17 year old American Idol hopeful didn’t disappoint last night.
He chose to sing Shania’s You Got A Way and she thought that it suited him ‘beautifully!’ She tried to boost his confidence and help him believe in his performance and said:
‘I wanted him to know that he’s here already – we love him. Now he has to give us what he loves.’

On tonight’s American Idol, Aaron Kelly took on R Kelly’s song – I Believe I Can Fly. Ryan Seacrest said that it’s a song he’s been singing since he was five. So, that was about last week then, wasn’t it?
Celebrity mentor for the show Alicia Keys, said that Aaron had a challenge on his hands but if he could put a lot of emotion into the performance then he could take the song to “a whole other place”.
