In the real shock reality TV result of the night, former Hollyoaks actress Ali Bastian has been voted off Strictly Come Dancing.

Although Ali and her partner Brian Fortuna were second on the judges leaderboard and have been tipped to win the series form week one, there was no dance off tonight and no chance for Len and Co to save the pair.

She said: “It’s devastating but at the same time I feel like we’re going out on a tremendous high,” adding, “It’s been an incredible experience and I’ve loved every moment of it.”

That leaves Ricky Whittle and Chris Hollins battling it out for the winners title next week. We hate to admit it, but we think Chris might just pull this one off!

Strictly Come Dancing bosses have revealed that Ali Bastian will dance on tonight’s semi final despite a recent foot injury.

Sources had earlier claimed that Laila Rouass and Anton Du Beke were preparing to replace Ali and Brian, as her foot injury refused to heal.

However today a BBC spokesman told The Sun: “Laila and Anton are continuing to train in case any of the couples are unable to perform in the live show.

“Ali is fine. She has danced two dances since she injured her foot. It would have to be a massive injury for Laila and Anton to step in.”

Laila Rouass may have just been eliminated from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing but she has been ordered back into rehearsals as bosses fear that Ali Bastian may not be able to perform this week.

Ali injured her ankle two weeks ago but after Saturday’s final had to keep her foot in an ice bucket for an hour as the pain became too much to bear.

Insiders now fear that Ali may be forced to pull out of this week’s semi final and have asked Laila and Anton to be ready to step in at the last minute if needed.

A source told The Sun: “Ali is still in pain. Because she is training so hard she hasn’t had time to recuperate, so one slight slip could force her out.

“If she pulls out there will not be enough for the semi-final so Laila is still training.”

The BBC’s Rick Behari said: “We have a number of contingencies in place in case anything happens to any of the remaining couples.”

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be in a panic after Ali Bastian was struck down by a virus.

Ali’s dance partner, Brian Fortuna was ill first and passed the virus on. Staff are said to be worried that the pair are suffering from swine flu.

One pal told The Sun: “We were petrified Ali had caught swine flu, but she has been downplaying it. She made it to her rehearsal but she fears it getting worse.

“She is due to perform the American smooth with her very own smooth American, Brian, and she really wants to put in a good show.”

Strictly Come Dancing contestants are said to be complaining that Ali Bastian has an unfair advantage on the show.

The Mirror reports that the former Hollyoaks actress attended stage school for three years, where she received various ballet and dance training.

One of the show’s professional dancers allegedly said: “It does give her a bit of an advantage. Her natural talent has already been honed by several dance tutors.”

However, a BBC spokeswoman claimed that Bastian has not broken any rules.

“It’s not an unfair advantage,” she said. “There are no rules against people who may have had a bit of training in the past.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s Ali Bastian has insisted that she is not having a relationship with her dance partner Brian Fortuna.

The former Hollyoaks stars says that she and Brian hit it off when they met, but denied reports that they are now dating.

“We’re just really good friends. Honestly!” she told Now magazine. “We clicked straight away. I can see how it’s easy to fall for someone when you’re dancing with them because you spend so much time together and you have to trust them.”

Bastian also admitted that she loves the dresses she gets to wear on Strictly.

“I love my wardrobe. I feel like a princess! If I could walk around in a tutu all day I would,” she said. “I’ve done the odd bikini shoot when I was in Hollyoaks, but on Strictly I put my faith in the costume department because they know how to dress a body.”

Since the pair were first snapped together, there have been persistent rumours that a romance is on the cards. Ali added fuel to the fire yesterday, when she told The Sun:

“I think he is lovely. I think because we are working so closely together, you do get interested. You spend so much time together and I really am enjoying the moment. I feel great.

“I am completely inspired by him. He is an incredible dancer. I do have a big weakness for men who can dance and I have never met anyone who can dance quite so well as Brian. I am feeling really happy right now and I am so glad to have him as my partner.

“Straight away, we hit it off. He has got the same humour as me and we laugh a lot.”

A show insider added: “There is a mutual attraction between Ali and Brian – they look great together.”

Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Ali Bastian, has been performing without realising that she had torn a ligament.

The Bill actress told The Sun that was sure she had only sprained her ankle, but the injury turned out to be more serious than that.

Bastian said: “I sprained my ankle three or four days into training and I have been dancing on it the whole time.

“I didn’t want to make a big deal of it, but now I have found out I have got a little tear in the ligament.”

She added: “But I’m looking after it, icing it, doing all the right things and they have strapped it up for me. I’m trying to pretend it’s not there but it’s painful.

“I really need to have it up for a few days but that’s not going to happen. I’m so focused and loving what I’m doing that I don’t want anything to stop me in my tracks.”

Strictly Come Dancing professional Brian Fortuna has admitted that he wants to date his dance partner Ali Bastian.

The vertically challenged dancer told The Sun “The truth is I’ve been asking Ali out for two or three weeks.

“She turns me down every time but maybe one day she’ll accept it. Who knows?”

It looks like she may just do that. When reporters asked her about the chance of a romance she replied:

“It’s early days.

“We only met each other a few weeks ago.

“We get on really, really well. I feel lucky to have Brian as a partner.

“We have the best time.

“He is training me and pushing me hard, which I’m really glad about, but at the same time we manage to have a laugh.”
