The final episode of cycle sixteen of America’s Next Top Model drew to a close last night with the announcement that Tyra Bankls had crowned Brittani Kline the winner.

The dark haired beauty from Beech Creek in Pennsylvania faced competition in the season finale from Molly O’Connell, as the two shot a Cover Girl commercial and tensions ran high during a final runway show for Vivienne Westwood.

It was a very close race and until the last minute, almost impossible to predict which girl would triumph, but in the end Vogue editor-at-large André Leon Talley, photographer Nigel Barker, Tyra Banks and special returning judge Jay Manuel chose Brittani as their champion.

In emotional scenes shown, after the result was announced, Kline wept and confessed:

“It doesn’t matter where you’re from or how you’re raised or what you have to go through. You can do whatever you want if you just put your mind to it.”

She then raved:

“My mum, oh my God, when she finds out that I won, I don’t know what she’s going to do! I’m a CoverGirl and IMG model and everything I’ve ever done has finally paid off!”

A visibly upset Molly added:

“I wanted this really badly. I failed at the one thing that I wanted to do.”

“I’m happy for Brittani and I wish her the best. The first thing I’ll do when I get home is going to be is take a nap and then eat a cold sandwich.”"

Hooked on Season 13 of America’s Next Top Model on LIVING? As the season continues next Monday at 9pm we’ve got news of the latest online challenge for you!

In Monday’s episode the girls were introduced to 9-year-old runway model Diva Davanna, who proved you don’t have to be tall, to walk tall! Miss J taught them runways techniques, which were put to the test at a Malibu fashion show, where the girls had to walk next to a model 5’10″ or above. The warehouse photo shoot had the girls using elements of the set and their outfits, to elongate themselves.

Brittany and Lulu found themselves in the bottom two, and despite being one of the tallest models at 5’7, Lulu was sent home for her poor performance in front of the lens. Next week a CoverGirl challenge will see the girls racing against each other (literally!), whilst doing their make-up and styling.

So for the fourth ANTM challenge they want to see you wearing statement accessories. We all love accessories and every model has to be able to show them off, be it bags, belts, scarves or jewellery. This week ANTM want you to upload your photos – either full length or headshots of you styling one of the 5 statement accessories that will be the ‘must haves’ this season.

So pick one of the accessories mentioned – from kitten heels, handbags, silver cuffs, bows or golden jewellery – and then get ready to show us what you’ve got.

Hooked on Season 13 of America’s Next Top Model? As the season continues next Monday at 9pm on Living ,we’ve got news of the latest online challenge for you!

In Monday’s episode, the pressure was on, as Wilhelmina Models President Sean Patterson (the winner’s boss!) interviewed each girl, with the help of ANTM favourite, Nigel Barker. Lulu failed to impress Nigel, stating she loves fashion, but not photographers! Nigel expresses his concern over Jennifer’s eye condition Ptosis, where as the pressure is too much for musical Rachel, who freezers when asked to perform. In a shock to all, Sean Patterson sends Rachel home, a lesson learnt; first impressions count!

Next week the girls try to elongate themselves in a variety of poses, and learn techniques to help themselves “walk tall” on the runway. Learning how to walk tall is one of the most important skills for a model to master. So for the third ANTM challenge they want to see you strut your stuff.

This time ANTM would like you to send in a video to www.antmchallenge.com of your fiercest runway walk. So unleash your inner diva and work it ladies!

When filming your entry get a friend to help or make sure the camera is in a fixed position. Walk towards it, turn and walk away. Make sure your clip is under a minute long.

Here are ANTM’s top five tips for perfecting a walk that would make Miss Jay proud.

BE CONFIDENT

There is nothing sexier than being comfortable in your skin. Love the person you are and embrace any and everything that you consider flaws.

FLAUNT YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

It’s great to be fashionable, but always wear what makes you feel good. Let your personality shine through in your wardrobe.

POSTURE

Watch your posture. You must create beautiful lines with your body. Elongate your neck and keep your shoulders back. Hold your head high. Use your core.

LEAD WITH YOUR HIPS

Lead with your hips as you walk in a straight line crossing one foot in front of the other.

BE COMFORTABLE IN HEELS

You must make the walk look natural and effortless. Make sure to get comfortable in heels. Otherwise, you’ll appear awkward when you walk like a runway model.)

Remember ANTM will be setting you a new challenge each week until 24th March to see if you’ve got what it takes to be a top model. The global juggernaut that is America’s Next Top Model is now back with a bang! This series Tyra Banks (presenter and judge) and the team have added a twist: short models – we’re not kidding! While previous series have required ANTM hopefuls to stand over 5’7”, series 13 will require all contestants to be 5’7” or shorter.

To celebrate the new season, each week ANTM will be setting you a new challenge at www.antmchallenge.com to see if you’ve got what it takes to be a top model. To enter you’ll need to upload a photo or video in response to a new challenge set each week running from 11th January until 24th March.

Tyra’s top 5 tips for the ‘Smize’ are:

1. Stand feet apart with your shoulders down – as if someone is pushing them down towards the ground

2. Keep your head up – as if a string attached to the top of your head is pulled skywards

3. Now put your hand on your tummy and think of something delicious! A hot chocolate sundae or maybe your boyfriend kissing
your neck – whatever works for you.

4. Focus on that delicious thought as much as you can and make that thought shine through your eyes

5. But remember don’t smile – the trick to this is all about using your face muscles and not your smile

Tyra Banks has admitted that she wishes she a harder person, as often people mistake her kindness as weakness.

Speaking to ABC’s Nightline in advance of the new series of ANTM, Tyra said:

“I wish I was more of a diva. I wish I was harder. I wish I didn’t care so much about being the nice girl all the time,” she said.

“Because a lot of the time people can take kindness for weakness… so I wish I had a little bit more ‘oomph’ in me.”

She refused to spill the beans on her love life and current relationship saying:

“Oprah told me don’t talk about your man unless you want the whole world in your business. I said, ‘OK’.

“I don’t have that ‘Oh my God, I gotta get married!’ thing. If it happens, it happens, but it’s never been like, ‘Ooooh, I need to do that!’ I don’t know, it’s a little difficult for me to understand, actually, when women really want to get married.

“I think it’s because I’m a product of divorce, my parents divorced, so I don’t understand that whole married thing when 70% of marriages fail and 50% of second marriages fail.”

Chaos has erupted at American Next Top Model auditions in a New York Hotel.

Thousands of people were queuing to try out for the hit reality TV show when panic broke out and people were forced to abandoned clothes and belongings to escape the scrum.

The scenes resulted in six people injured and three arrests. Police went on to cancel the auditions and sent everyone home, they could not confirm what the cause of the panic was.

For the 13th series of the show producers are looking for models below average height and a maximum height of 5′ 7″ set for auditionees. I wonder if these scenes are proof that woman as well as men suffer from the aggressive ‘Short Man’s Syndrome’ that we hear so much about?

With more makeovers, melodrama and mayhem than ever before, the tenth series of LIVING’s smash-hit modelling reality show, America’s Next Top Model, continues this week. Now 11 stunning young hopefuls remain in the competition for the Next Top Model crown.

With combative Allison eliminated, tensions in the house should have died down this week, but instead the girls find themselves engaged in a battle over bathroom etiquette, with fiery Fatima at the centre as usual. However, her spirits are soon dampened by a stiff reprimand from J Alexander when she disappoints him during runway practice at a fire station.

The girls then have to give their all on a real runway for guests Ann Shoket, editor of Seventeen magazine, and former Next Top Model winner Jaslene Gonzalez, who is particularly unimpressed with a nervous Lauren. Things get even more unnerving for the girls at this week’s photo shoot when they arrive in New York’s meat-packing district. The girls pose amidst animal carcasses while dressed in clothes contructed of raw, red meat. “This is a metaphor for being a model like I can’t believe” says judge Paulina Porizkova of the shoot. But who will transcend the grisly setting and impress?

With more high heels and hissy fits than ever before, the ninth series of one of LIVING’s best loved reality shows, America’s Next Top Model, draws to a close this week. 13 gorgeous girls have battled it out for the Next Top Model crown and the prizes of a modelling contract, a $100,000 deal with Covergirl cosmetics and a spread in a magazine that come with it.

Having whittled down the hopefuls to the final three, its now time for the judges – supermodel Tyra Banks, 60s star Twiggy, fashion photographer Nigel Barker and runway coach J Alexander – to pick the winner.

After last week’s shock elimination of Bianca, this week’s series finale sees the final three – Chantal, Jenah and Saleisha – shoot a commercial for Covergirl lipgloss in China. Although each of the girls manage to secure a good take in the end, Jenah’s attitude lands her in hot water with photoshoot manager Jay Manuel, and Saleisha becomes so frustrated when she fluffs her lines that she has to take five minutes to cry! Next it’s time for the first elimination of the episode, but just to make it that bit tougher Tyra asks each of the girls to evaluate their competition before announcing who is going home.

For the two finalists, it’s then time to take to the runway for the last catwalk show. The event is held near the Forbidden City – a palace which housed the Chinese Emperor for nearly five centuries – and sees the girls modelling a range of couture dresses for esteemed Chinese designer Qi Gang. Series eight winner Jaslene Gonzalez is on hand to give the girls some tips before opening the show, but while one hopeful has a consistently strong walk, the other has a wardrobe malfunction which sends a stage performer crashing to the ground. At the final elimination both girls are praised by the judges, but only one can take away the Next Top Model crown.

The final four girls are still in China this week, where they are each given a traditional costume and told to update it
for a challenge. Deciding to do all she can to ensure a spot in the final, Bianca tries to throw Jenah off her game during the contest. Will her cunning plan work?

This week’s photoshoot takes place at the Great Wall of China, where the girls must pretend to be fighting to make it over the wall. With each wannabe desperate for a spot in the final, nerves are running high – especially when the week’s extra-special photographer is revealed. It’s Tyra!

Last night we saw Heather’s departure from America’s Next Top Model. No one could really have been surprised, as the girls had to find their way around Shaghai for ‘go sees’ with various designers, Heather spent the majority of the day wandering, lost, around the city. When she finally got back to base she was forty minutes late and automatically disqualified from the challenge.

At the end of the epsiode when Tyra Banks revealed the bottom two girls, Heather found herself paired with Jenah, and though Tyra admitted that the pair often took the best pictures out of the whole group, both of them had personality problems which may stop them succeeding in the business. Jenah survived, but will have to watch her caustic tongue and sarcastic wit in future, Heather was not so lucky!

Next week we will see the girls in Shanghai, where Tyra will be directing their photo shoot on the great wall of china. I only hope that Bianca doesn’t last too much longer, her cocky attitude is beginning to grate on my nerves!
