Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has insisted that he isn’t at all worried about the fact that his BBC show ‘Over The Rainbow’, will be directly competing with ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, when it returns later this month.
Lord Andrew Lloyd has admitted that Denise Van Outen was dropped from the Over The Rainbow judging panel, because she was pregnant.
Denise had previously insisted that the decision to drop her was made purely because she was expecting her first child. When the news broke that she was being replaced by Charlotte Church she said:
“It was mentioned to me that being pregnant was an issue. It is not an issue for me. I am not ill. I am having a baby.” However the BBC have always adamantly denied her claims.

Over The Rainbow judge Andrew Lloyd Webber has denied rumours of a rift between himself and former ‘I’d Do Anything judge Denise Van Outen.
Denise had judged on Andrew’s BBC reality TV shows since their inception but was not asked to appear on this year’s ‘Over The Rainbow.’ Insisting that the decision was made because she was pregnant, Denise said she felt “let down and disappointed” to be replaced by songbird Charlotte Church.
Over The Rainbow presenter Graham Norton has been gushing about his boss Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and said that he thinks the musical genius is ‘one of the greats.’
“When we met, I was pleased we seemed to get on. But, five years on, I don’t just tolerate the man – I adore him,” Norton told the Daily Mail. “And he’s wonderful TV. He’s not trying to be the next Simon Cowell. He’s simply his glorious self.”
Taking time out from his astonishingly busy schedule to talk about his neww BBC talent search ‘Over The Rainbow’, in the interview below Andrew Lloyd Webber begins by outlining what he is looking for in Dorothy, a role first made famous by Judy Garland in the much-loved 1939 movie of The Wizard Of Oz.
“I think this is our toughest challenge yet,” reveals Andrew, who is seated in his office at a large table next to one of his beloved pianos. “Our Dorothy has to be young and rebellious and funny.”
Following the success of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, Any Dream Will Do and I’d Do Anything, Over The Rainbow reunites host Graham Norton and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who, along with a brand new panel of experts (Sheila Hancock, Charlotte Church and John Partridge) and BBC One viewers, will choose a Dorothy to perform in the West End production of The Wizard Of Oz next year.
