The BBC have announced that in their all new reality TV show, I’d Do Anything, due to start this week, viewers will not be able to choose between the child actors who will play the part of Oliver.
The BBC have said that Andrew Lloyd Webber will have the final casting decision on the boys, saying that it was “in the best interests of the boys” not to put them through the voting process. Three boys will be chosen out of the final twelve, as due to child labour hours each child will only be allowed to work for 20 hours per week.
Don’t despair however, you will get to choose between the twelve Nancy finalists, all of who will be over the age of seventeen.
A BBC spokeswoman said: “As Oliver is played by a minor, his role will not be open to the public vote.
“This decision was taken by the BBC following expert advice in providing a duty of care to child contributors.
“We want all the boys to gain as much from this experience as possible, and enable them to learn as much about musical theatre as they can over the course of the series.”
Host Graham Norton said he “wouldn’t feel comfortable” putting the boys through the stress of a public vote during the series. Read more & comment »

Andrew Lloyd Webber has said that the only reason the X Factor is enjoying such high ratings at the moment, is because his shows are off air.
The Lord, 59, said: “Last year it was up against Maria for a few weeks.
“We took a big chunk of their ratings. We were getting about six million and they were getting about seven million.
“So of course they are doing well this year — there’s nothing up against them.”
Lloyd Webber also revealed he will be back on TV with a BBC Christmas special with all the Maria and Joseph finalists.
And he added: “I am still talking with the BBC for a show next year. But it won’t be one of my musicals.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber has admitted to being in awe of Graham Norton and believes he is a great presenter for BBC’s Any Dream Will Do.
“I’m just in awe of Graham. His talent is boundless,” Andrew told The Sun. “He does the whole show with an earpiece in and has to concentrate on what he’s saying while someone is firing instructions at him from off-stage. I couldn’t do that!”
He added: “I absolutely love doing the show. I always forget the cameras are there and get caught up in the moment. The show is constructed like a musical in itself. Keeping the audience entertained from start to finish is a challenge and we have to carry their concentration through from A to B.”
