Ann Widdecombe thinks that one of the reasons Edwina Currie was eliminated from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last weeekend, was because she was ‘too smutty’ on the show.

The former MP reigned on last year’s series of the BBC show and it was obvious that her former colleague Edwina was hoping to follow in her footsteps. But on Sunday, she became the first celebrity to be sent home and Anne thinks the fact that she exposed her underwear and talked a lot about her sex life, turned viewers off.

Strictly Come Dancing 2011: Ann Widdecombe says Nancy Dell’Olio is a “battleaxe”

Former Strictly star Ann Widdecombe has started up a war of words with Nancy Dell’Olio after calling her a “battleaxe”.

Ann told The Sun that Nancy, who has been paired up with pro-dancer Anton Du Beke for this year’s show, will be “high maintenance” while she’s competing.

She said, “Nancy will be more high maintenance than me.

“I hope I have prepared Anton for knowing how to handle battleaxe women — because he’ll need it with Nancy.

“That woman has such a very high opinion of herself.

“I can’t believe she said she’s the second most famous Italian after Sophia Loren. What about Galileo, Pavarotti and Leonardo da Vinci?” Read more & comment »

BBC bosses have reportedly almost signed Russell Grant for this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Insiders say that producers think the roly poly astrologer will be a big hit with viewers when the sequin filled extravaganza returns to our screens this September and it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t know his waltz from his samba, neither did Ann Widdecombe and the public loved her!

Strictly Come Dancing: Ann Widdecombe and Craig Revel Horwood to appear in Snow White panto

It’s only March and already stars are being booked for their local panto.

One not to miss will be the staging of Snow White and The Seven Dwarves in kent, in which Strictly Come Dancing stars Ann Widdecombe and Craig Revel Horwood will be reunited.

The pair enjoyed an entertaining banter on the BBC show and were a big attraction on the nationwide tour, where they performed as dance partners.

Ann Widdecombe has admitted that she is loving getting her own back on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Craig Revel Horwood.

The former Tory politician – who faced a barrage of criticism from the acid-tongued judge for her comical performances on last year’s series of the BBC One show – is now dancing alongside Craig in the ‘Strictly’ tour, and is loving every minute of it.

Ann Widdecombe has confessed that taking part in Strictly Come Dancing, was the best thing she’s done this year.

The former Tory minister – who was eliminated from the BBC One show just one week before the semi-finals – explained she had a “whale of a time” on the celebrity dancing contest.

She said: “Without a doubt it’s been the highlight of my year. It’s completely different to anything I’ve ever done before and I had a whale of a time.

Alesha Dixon is “relieved” Ann Widdecombe was voted off ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The judge – who won the BBC One show herself in 2007 – thinks if the former Conservative minister had stayed in the competition any longer, the public would have eventually “turned on her”.

She explained: “It was 100 per cent right she went when she did. It wasn’t frustration, more relief. It was the right time for Ann to go.

Ann Widdecombe has hit back at the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judges after being booted off the show.

The former Conservative minister – who was the ninth contestant to leave the BBC One series on Sunday (05.12.10) – has claimed she has no idea what Alesha Dixon’s role is, and branded Craig Revel-Horwood “mean”.

After becoming renowned for her hilarious dance moves – which often saw her being dragged along the floor by her professional partner Anton Du Beke – the 63-year-old star has laid into the judges who mocked her performances.
