Anoop Desai made it through to American Idol’s final 13 singers by the skin of his teeth and with performances like this he will be out sooner than he can say Michael Jackson.
For last nights live show Anoop chose to sing his favourite MJ song, ‘Beat It’ and the judges were unanimous in their criticism of his song choice.

American Idol finalist, Anoop Desai has admitted that he was genuinely shocked by the twist of last weeks show which saw him make the final group.
In the clip above you will see Anoop’s disappointment when he doesn’t make the final 12, but then Simon completely surprises him by announcing that the judges had decided to increase the number of the final group to 13, meaning that Anoop was through.
Yes you read the title right! Last night the American Idol judges twisted proceedings a little and at the end of the wild card round announced that this year, they were actually going to allow thirteen contestants through to the live finals rather than the usual twelve.
Anoop Desai, Jasmine Murray, Megan Corkrey and Matt Giraud will now join Jorge Nunez, Scott MacIntyre, Lil Rounds, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver in next weeks first live show in the full size American Idol studio.
