Strictly Come Dancing 2012: BGT star Ashleigh Butler “poised to sign” up for the show

It’s been reported today that Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashleigh Butler is to be parted from her pet pooch Pudsey in order to compete in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Ashleigh and Pudsey of course stole the hearts of the nation with their performances on BGT, and though I suspect Pudsey could and would happily learn a few ballroom dancing techniques, Ashleigh will in fact go solo for Strictly. Sigh.

The Daily Star quotes Ashleigh – who is apparently “poised to sign” up to the show – as saying, “I’d love to do Strictly. It would be nice to show people who I am.”

Ashleigh then joked, “Some people say: ‘Why doesn’t Pudsey just ditch her?’ But I’d like to see how he would have done without me… Read more & comment »

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Ashleigh and Pudsey join PETA circus campaign

Since Ashleigh Butler and her canine pal Pudsey appeared on – and won – Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, the nation has of course been enthralled by the fluffy pooch, so animal rights campaign group PETA have enlisted the pair in their latest anti-cruelty campaign.

The Sun reports that Ashleigh and Pudsey are fronting the campaign, having been photographed as a clown and – for a mane wearing Pudsey – a lion in order to highlight the cruelty that takes place in some circuses.

Of the campaign, Ashleigh said, “I love animals. So when I learned about the cruel ways wild animals in circuses are treated, I had to do something to help.

“Pudsey and I love to perform, but wild animals in circuses do not.

“Animals in the circus are whipped and beaten so that they will perform tricks… Read more & comment »

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Pooch Pudsey pegged for pop stardom!

Simon Cowell is one of those people who has the Midas touch, and it seems he’s intent on applying said touch to BGT winners Ashleigh Butler and her canine pal Pudsey by making them into pop stars.

Simon has of course made no secret of the fact that his personal quest is to find dogs who can entertain the nation in any capacity, and when Ashleigh and Pudsey were declared winners of this year’s show, Simon said, “My life’s work is complete.”

And he’s also no stranger to working with dogs – of the four legged kind that is… although… – since he once released a track of dogs barking.

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Ashleigh Butler has only spent £313 of her BGT winnings!

BGT winner Ashleigh Butler is a young lady with a lot of common sense! So much sense in fact that rather than rush off on a spending spree with her £500,000 winnings from the show, she’s spent just £313.

17 year old Ashleigh told Look magazine, “I never thought in a million years that we’d win, so I never thought about what I’d do with the money if we did.

“I’ve told Pudsey I’m splitting the money with him, but we’ll put it all into one bank account.

“I think Pudsey trusts me! So far all I’ve spent is £313 on clothes.

“Normally I go straight to the sale rail but this time in New Look I picked everything up full price!”

Ashleigh may well want to invest in a few more nice clothes as she is of course due to perform with Pudsey in front of Queen Elizabeth at this year’s Royal Variety Performance… Read more & comment »

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Pudsey has a date with canine pal Sam!

Rumours about BGT winner Pudsey being gay have of course dogged him since he shot to fame on the show, and in particular, his friendship with fellow canine Sam has been in the spotlight.

And after reading about Pudsey and Sam’s romance in the Daily Star, a pub owner in Northampton invited the four legged lads to share a dinner of spaghetti and meatballs in an attempt to recreate the famous love scene from Disney’s Lady and the Tramp.

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: Interview with Ashleigh & Pudsey

Ashleigh & Pudsey wowed the Judges in the auditions with Simon saying that Pudsey is the ‘best dancing dog act he has ever seen’. Seventeen year old Ashleigh was given Pudsey when she was 11 and they have a remarkable bond. They have been performing in shows for years.

What made you audition for Britain’s Got Talent this year?

I decided to audition because I felt Pudsey and I were ready for the challenge. Pudsey is six now and he is in his prime which means he is competing at his peak. We have been competing in canine freestyle for three years and have reached advanced level, so I felt Britain’s Got Talent was the next step for us.
