Avril Lavigne was a surprise guest on last night’s X Factor USA final.
The Canadian singer songwriter joined finalist Chris Rene on the stage for a one off duet, on her hit song ‘Complicated.’
It was a special night for the Californian trash collector, as not only was he vying for the $5 million prize money and a record deal with Simon Cowell, but he was also celebrating the fact that he has remained clean and sober for exactly eight months to the day.

Avril Lavigne seems to be attempting some sort of comeback at the minute.
It seems that we can’t read a gossip website this week without coming across her name and tonight, the Canadian singer showed up to perform on the Britain’s Got Talent live semi final.
The 26 year old (yes she really is that old!) gave a rendition of her recent single What The Hell, followed by an excerpt of her latest release Smile.

Ohhh those American Idol bosses are a canny lot. They drop the jibbering idiot judge (although possibly on a temporary basis) and fill her chair with some of America’s biggest celebrities and stars. Thats sure to pull them out of last year’s ratings slump.
The latest star reported to be taking on a judging stint alongside Simon and Co is ‘Skater Boy’ singer Avril Lavinge. According to EW.com, she will spend a full day critiquing auditionees for the show, as will ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer Katy Perry.
Roll on American Idol 2010!
