Former Big Brother housemate Luke Marsden has claimed that his girlfriend Rebecca Shiner may have swine flu.

Marsden revealed on his Twitter page that Bex has been admitted to hospital and that doctors don’t yet know whats wrong with her.

On Sunday he tweeted:

“They aren’t sure what’s wrong with her [but] they aren’t ruling out Swine Flu. We could be here all night.”

Later, he added: “Her temperature is going down so the nurses are pleased with that. Waiting for a doctor to give a diagnosis. Thanks for all your messages!”

Today he confirmed that doctors were “quite sure” that she had contracted the virus.

“She is better than yesterday but may have to go back to the hospital today,” he said. “Thanks for all your messages of support, I’m reading them all out to [her].”

Former Big Brother housemate Stephanie McMichael has blasted other reality TV contestants who claim that they enter the shows for the experience rather than for the fame.

Steph was the first housemate to be evicted on last years series but has went on to make quite a large sun from ensuing magazine deals etc.

Speaking to Take 5 magazine, McMichael explained: “I can’t stand people who go on BB and say: ‘It’s not about the fame’. It is! If you don’t want to be famous, don’t go on reality TV.

“It isn’t about the experience. Who would choose to live in a house with a load of mad strangers? No one is just ‘themselves’ either. You have to exaggerate your personality to get on BB. But you can’t fake it either.”

On her own earnings, she revealed: “I made around £100,000 from interviews afterwards. I have no problem posing in my undies, although I’d never go topless.”

It seems as if this year, everyone is watching and waiting for the Celebrity Big Brother contestants to slip up in some major way.

The show took a years break after the 2007 series became renowned for the race row that kicked off between Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty and now it’s back with all manner of checks balances and systems in place to ensure that a similar situation doesn’t rear it’s head again. However many people seem to want to censor the housemates and ban any sort of risque language or inappropriate topic.

Just this weekend the media was full of stories about Coolio using the N***** word and forums everywhere were buzzing with people wanting him evicted immediately or at least given a serious warning. Today Darnell Swallow, a contestant from the 2008 summer series has revealed that he used the word at least three times whilst in the house and faced no consequences from Big Brother.

But surely that’s ok, isn’t it? Come one we can’t start throwing out housemates every time they use a word that’s not contained within our all new PC dictionary.

I would imagine that each situation needs to be judged on an individual basis and not with an overly heavy hand. Darnell more than likely used the word in passing and not directed at another housemate, just as Coolio used the word while he was describing a dream he had the night before. Did they offend anyone in the house? No. Were they speaking to anyone in a racist manner? No. On the other hand was Jade Goody being racist when she singled out Shilpa Shetty for bullying, called her a poppadom and mocked her accent? It would certainly seem that way. Jade wasn’t just racist but the anger and aggression she displayed towards Shetty was at times very disturbing. It was the pure venom in Goody’s voice that made the situation so dire and memorable.

I really think we have to be careful how we handle future comments from the housemates. Do we really want to see Tommy Sheridan evicted if he calls Michelle Heaton a tart or should Terry Christian get the boot if he happens to call Tina porky? No way! Isn’t it those sorts of rows and incidents that make Big Brother worth watching after all? I would ask people to calm down….way down, and just enjoy the show for what it is. A bit of voyeuristic fun in which people make fools of themselves on a hopefully daily basis. Of course BB can’t allow people to be hateful, aggressive or racist but when they’re just being rude or stupid I think we have to let it go.

It is of course the final of Strictly Come Dancing tonight, and last week was the X Factor final, but which reality TV show has been your favourite this year?

There’ve been plenty to choose from, that’s for sure! Apart from Strictly and X Factor, we’ve had Big Brother and its spin off early in the year, Celebrity Hijack. There’s also been I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Dancing On Ice, I’d Do Anything – which was about the search for three young actors to play Oliver in London’s West End – Britain’s Got Talent, The Apprentice and Celeb Air.

For me, my favourites have to be – rather predictably – Big Brother, X Factor and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, in that order. I can pretty much take or leave the rest but those three were compulsive viewing for me, so let’s take a quick look back at some of the best bits from those three shows…

One of the most exciting bits of this year’s BB was the big fight over Jen’s painting. It made for some brilliant viewing! Here’s a clip of the moment Dennis sealed his fate in the BB house… Be warned it contains uncensored swearing!

And there was the moment the vile Alex was removed from the house too… my life she was repulsive wasn’t she? Here’s the moment she was booted out.

But without doubt, one of the funniest moments was when Mikey ate a Scotch Bonnet chilli… I nearly wee’d.

In fact, Mikey provided some of the funniest and grossest moment throughout BB9. Here’s a fan made top five Mikey moments…

Now onto X Factor and one of the series biggest shocks was of course Laura White’s departure. Let’s take a look at the moment she was voted off by the judges…

To be honest, if it was based on the survival songs alone, then Ruth without question deserved to stay. I absolutely loved her version of Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door. It’s on my Youtube playlist and I play it at least once a day! Here’s a reminder of it in case you’ve forgotten it… The first couple of minutes aren’t that great but she really revs up after that!

This year’s show had a lot of ups and downs, and one of the biggest downs for me was the Britney Spears appearance. After all the hype, I was expecting something truly remarkable, but it was pants. She mimed, had nothing to do with any of the acts and in general was just disappointing.

I found a lot of the ‘super star’ appearances to be pretty lame in all honesty. I personally can’t stand Mariah Carey and she looked like something out of the Thunderbirds on X Factor. Her heels were so high she could barely walk, her face so botoxed she could barely talk and her live performance was so warbly, it just irritated me. The bit where she sang ‘and you and you and you’… yikes it was bad. Here’s the video of it so you’ll see what I mean about the wobbly singing.

Still, at least she spent time with the finalists, unlike Britney.

Back to the contestants and I was devastated when Austin left, especially as it meant that Rachel stayed in. I couldn’t bear that woman – worse than I disliked Mariah even! – and I remember sitting on the edge of my sofa willing the judges to send Rachel home, but no, they sent Austin home…

However, in the end, the right woman won on the night but the standard of the competitors this year was incredibly high and even at boot camp stage, there were acts being sent home who in previous years could well have ended up in the final.

So onto I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and the jungle produced some great moments again this year. One of my favourite themes that ran throughout was the friendship between George and Joe.

I was sooooooo glad when Timmy Mallett left; he has to be one of the most annoying people on the face of the planet! I couldn’t believe that David Van Day stayed in so long either. Every night I was just willing Ant and Dec to announce that David would be leaving but it was not to be until the final night.

It’s been a great reality TV year and of course, as of January 2nd we’ve got Celebrity Big Brother to look forward to! Let us know which show has been your favourite this year.

Former Big Brother housemate, Rex Newmark, was reportedly involved in a fist fight last weekend in a soho nightclub.

A fellow clubber named Kelly O’Brien told The Daily Star: “I was scared. He turned into an animal,” she said. “There was a group of five nice guys nearby, who we had been enjoying a friendly conversation with before Rex came along.

“Once Rex realised we weren’t interested in him, he just went over and started punching one of them.

“He flipped. I don’t know where Rex had been earlier, but he seemed pretty drunk… He caught one of the guys, whose name was John, between the eyes and blood started pouring out.”

O’Brien described the executive chef as “arrogant and obnoxious”.

“My top was a little low-cut and Rex said: ‘I see you have your t*ts out tonight’,” she commented. “I was insulted and replied: ‘You’re gross.’

“But that got his back up and it just made him more persistent.

“He boasted that he drove a Range Rover Sport and that his sequined top was worth £7,000. He was so arrogant and obnoxious, I tried to pull one of the sequins off.”

Photographer David Abiaw commented saw the fight outside the club, he commented: “I didn’t see how it started, but I saw Rex arguing and screaming abuse, then throwing a punch.

“They were all rolling around on the floor, wrestling and kicking. One guy’s friends, some bystanders and bouncers tried to pull him off and stop Rex fighting their friend.”

He continued: “It was a messy fight. One of the friends of the guy Rex appeared to be fighting with tried to stop him with a right hook.

“It kept breaking up, then they’d start fighting again. Rex even took his belt off and threatened to hit anybody who came near him.”

Big Brother couple, Luke and Rebecca, are rumoured to have landed a TV job, hosting a concert for this year’s Children In Need.

A source told The Daily Star: “They’re naturals in front of the camera and they have amazing chemistry.

“It is in at the deep end. There will be no room for mistakes.

“They’ll have to be right on the money, but if they pull it off it could land them a mega TV deal.”

Hollyoaks hunks Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries will help the pair present the Blackpool concert.

If there was ever an unlikeable Big Brother housemate then Sylvia Barrie is her. It’s gutting to realise then that we might not have yet seen the last of her and that she intends to audition for X Factor next year.

Sylvia told The Daily Star:

“I’m not scared of Simon, I’m sure that I can win him over with my voice.

“I’m not worried about the others, either. I’ll just tell Cheryl how much I love Girls Aloud and tell Dannii I think she’s gorgeous.

“Music is my life. It is all I really want to do and if things don’t happen for me in the next few months then I will try out for The X Factor next year.

“Why not? I think I am as good, if not better, than many of the people they have had on the show so far this year.”

We heard last week that Big Brother reject, Stephanie McMichael was releasing a single called ‘Camera Shy’. Now, maybe I was being silly but given that Steph got through to the final rounds of Pop Idol all those years ago, I kind of hoped that she might actually have some musical talent.

I’ve listened to the song above and I hold my hands up and admit that I was wrong. It is awful, boring, and even worse than any song Victoria Beckham could inflict on us!

Former Big Brother housemate Sara, is on the prowl and intends to get her hands on sexy Stuart according to The Daily Star.

This week the pair were both presenting awards at the Comfort’s Prima Fashion show and as soon as Sara found out that Stu was in the vicinity she is said to have made a beeline for his dressing room.

A spy at the bash told the newspaper: “All Sara could talk about all night was Stuart. She is still obsessed with him and has made it clear she’s going to make a huge play for him and do whatever it takes to get him.

“As soon as she found out Stuart was presenting an award with ex-Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon, she hunted him down.

“The two were backstage for quite a while, probably sharing some intimate moments.

“Sara emerged looking very pleased with herself and the two went out later on.”

Sara had earlier admitted: “Stuart is so sexy, his eyes are just to die for.”

Being a big fan of BB and a generally quite nosey person, I was really looking forward to getting this extra bit of BB footage, but it was actually a pretty pants programme and I was quite disappointed that I turned over from Sky Arts’ evening of Johnny Cash documentaries to watch it.

Lee kern hosted the hour long Channel 4 look at what the BB9 housemates have been getting up to since they left the famed compound and frankly, other than Lee’s very funny one liners and oddly monotonous-amusing voice, it was deathly dull.

Mario’s post-house experience was the subject of the first segment of the show which saw him doing his first photo shoot for the Daily Star. He was greased up like a hog at a roast and the less said about that the better. The shoot ended with Mario signing up with Neon, a ‘talent’ agency and actually, the only talent agency who actually wanted to take on the Widnes Wazack. Their rep told Lee that they saw a great future for Mario doing corporate presentations about health and safety. We’ll all be on the edge of our seats waiting for the premiere of that then.

Lee then ran viewers through Mario’s TV career to date which included numerous appearances on game shows of all kinds and of course, the infamous appearance on Ant & Dec when Mario was set-up in a hidden cam type joke during which people kept mistaking him for Joey from Friends. Yes, hugely amusing stuff… Oh wait, no it wasn’t.

Moving on and Lee next introduced Jen’s BB story then followed her progress from doing topless and mostly naked photo shoots to spending a weekend in Marbella with Dale who was there posing for a calendar. Lee asked her why she objected so strongly in the house to wearing a bunny outfit for the ‘pleasure’ of the male housemates but was quite happy to bare all on the outside. She began trying to justify her actions but was forced to agree that in fact, she did it for the money. Shocker. Who’da thunked.

So onto Dunno Like Dale, who Lee described as “BB’s teenage fantasy”. C4 cameras followed Dale for a week after he was evicted and Lee accompanied him to his first ever personal appearance at the Mercy club in Norwich. Not so much the ‘bright lights’ as the relatively well lit B road of celebrity autograph signing but nonetheless, Dale seemed to enjoy himself. One of the funniest moments came when some of his ‘fans’ kept calling him Dave.

Anyway, Jen and Dale, with Lee in tow, then jetted off to the aforementioned Marbella for the calendar assignment. One photo session took place in the home of Gary Lineker’s brother – oooooooooo – which was apparently a pic of Dale’s bum. Thrilling stuff.

Later, on the boat that was taking the trio around Marbella, Lee asked Jen if she thought Dale had changed since he left the house and she replied that she thought he’d become big headed and over confident. Become?? When was he not? However, Dale fired back across the bows of her insult by saying that she hadn’t changed at all; she was cold in the house and she still is. Miaow.

The next Z lister to be interviewed by Lee was Belinda who made an extremely embarrassing attempt to perform some sort of rap in Covent Garden. It was every bit as horrific as any and all of her other attempts at ‘singing’ that occurred while she was in the BB house. Lee asked her if she’d been at all upset by the fact that no agencies wanted to represent her and that she’d achieved zero fame. She replied that in a way, this was a good thing because she could continue being ‘herself’. She did indeed continue being herself, all over Covent Garden, causing people to studiously hurry past while avoiding eye contact with her lest she corner them.

Lee then took us on a guided tour of Bex’s first few days out of the house which, unsurprisingly, consisted of a great deal of nearly naked, breast filled photo shoots. A very funny few minutes occurred when Lee, in the same hotel room as Bex and Luke’s sister, was trying to talk all the way through the BB episode in which Luke was evicted.

As the tension mounted, Lee asked if anyone wanted a McDonalds or a KFC. Neither did it seems because the next thing we saw was Luke being evicted. Lee sadly proclaimed that, ‘He was taken from us too soon, the good ones always are.’ His humour was lost on Bex and Luke’s sister however and they did in fact look as if they were in mourning.

So Lee then moved on to following Luke around for a few days and we watched as he posed in his boxers for the Sunday Star and generally did a lot of the things that he swore he’d never do. He did at least admit he was doing it for the cash so that’s fair enough but he denied that his relationship with Bex was only going to last as long as the offers of money did. We’ll see. Given that their coupling is about as likely as Maggie Thatcher and Jack Duckworth, I personally wouldn’t expect to see mini Lube’s running round any time soon. That’s a Luke-Bex thing in case you were wondering, like Jenadale. I’ll stop now.

We then saw the footage of Luke and Bex’s photo shoot in Las Vegas where they simulated a marriage in a chapel of love, complete with Elvis impersonator. It was quite funny when Bex carried Luke down the aisle though.

The remaining housemates – some of whom didn’t feature at all – didn’t appear for more than a few seconds on the show. Steph was shown recording a song called More Precious Than Gold, which was presumably all about what her hair extensions mean to her and Lisa was filmed dressed as some kind of reverse drag act in a meringue like pink fairy outfit. She told Lee that angels are her spirit guides and she talks to them all the time. Lee asked how they all were and Lisa assured him they were fine.

Nuttier than squirrel poo Lisa seemed to have been submerged in a vat of fake tan upon her release from the house which was quite astounding given how orange she was while in the house. You wouldn’t have thought she could get more tango’d, but you’d have been wrong.

Kat, Lee explained, was impossible to interview and described her as, “a big jumping ball of incoherence.” He’s right of course, she is, so he swiftly moved on to a three second segment with Nicole. Lee asked her if she went into the house solely to make her boyfriend’s life a misery but unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear her reply.

Finally, Lee talked to Rachel just long enough to ask her the question that we’ve all been dying to know the answer to; why did she win given she did nothing of note at all? Rachel replied that she was aware she’d been uber dull and had ‘sat on the fence’ – cue invites to do corny creosote ads is my guess – and that was pretty much the end of that.

I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see footage of the wrap party and all in all, I have to say that if it hadn’t been for Lee Kern’s humour, this programme would have been as interesting as watching wood warp but somehow, he just about managed to salvage a relatively watchable hour out of the ashes of exceptionally dull post-show footage.
