Former Big Brother housemate Chanelle Hayes (the one we keep getting mixed up with Chantelle Houghton*) is up the duff, knocked up, expecting her first child. And no, it’s not the immaculate conception (which we keep getting mixed up with Madonna’s greatest hits CD),the babydaddy is her boyfriend, footballer Matthew Bates.
23 year old Hayes, who had a televised romance with fellow BB8 housemate Ziggy, has recently had her 12 week scan and is said to be delighted at the news.
News of her pregnancy comes in the wake of Chanelle being hospitalised after an apparent suicide attempt which followed a row between her and Bates. Chanelle’s unsettled past has been well-documented in the press, and we hope her pregnancy marks the beginning of some happier times for her.
They’ve spent their summer inside Britain’s most famous house, but what happens when they return to the outside world? Big Brother: What the Housemates Did Next follows the housemates as they leave the house and adjust to life away from the Diary Room, tasks and communal showers. The cameras follow the evicted housemates as they return home, plus viewers see the incredible journey of this year’s winner.
Former Big Brother housemates, Chanelle and Ziggy have reportedly had sex for the first time outside the Big Brother house.
Chanelle, 19, said: “It was magical. But we kept thinking someone was going to interrupt us and call us into the Diary Room.”
Ziggy chirped: “We had an amazing night. And we didn’t get much sleep. Being trapped in the Big Brother house, I was like a caged animal busting to get out. We didn’t get to sleep until after 3am. We want to give this a go.”
Have you ever seen a couple more hungry for a magazine deal? Chiggy would give Peter and Jordan a run for their money!
Yesterday we reported that Channel 4 bosses were considering axing Big Brother due to bad ratings and lack of interest in the show.
However, Channel 4 programmes chief Julian Bellamy has revealed that the show will continue, he said it’s still popular with teens and those in their 20s – main targets for advertisers – and other shows rely on it for revenue.
If this is true, then Channel 4 certainly need to reinvigorate the show in some major way. Has anyone any ideas out there?
Rumours are rife that Channel 4 bosses are considering axing Big Brother, or at least giving it a one year break, after the dire ratings acheived by this years series.
The Sunday Mirror has today reported that with less than three million people tuning into some of the nightly highlight shows on Channel 4, BB bosses are going to have to come up with a radical way to improve the show, or else pull it altogether.
“Everyone has been frantic with worry about the way it has gone,” a show insider told the paper.
“The most drastic plan is getting rid of the next series – but only for a year, as they hope the show will come back stronger. It would mean the end of an era in a sense, but might just save Big Brother.”
Celebrity Big Brother has already been axed from the 2008 schedules and will return in 2009.
So let us know your views. Should Channel 4 axe BB, or would you be devastated without your yearly dose? Comments below as always!
Tonight, Big Brother series 8 ended its 94-day run. The nation has been voting all week, the final votes have been counted and verified and host Davina McCall revealed that BRIAN is this year’s £100,000 winner.

On hearing the news Brian started to cry and looked stunned. The twins, Amanda and Sam, screamed as Brian said “come here” and gave them a big hug. Brian, with tears streaming down his face, said “I don’t deserve to win …. this is so mental”.
Runners-up Amanda & Sam hugged and kissed Brian before walking out of the Big Brother house. As they waved a final goodbye to the winner they called out “whistle for a hottie” and then made their way up the stairs hand in hand. Read more & comment »
A record £5 million has been bet on Sam and Amanda Marchant to win Big Brother 2007, making them the most popular Big Brother housemates yet.
The bookies stand to lose a fortune if the girls win, as they were first given the odds of only 20/1 when people were sure Brian would win.
Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said last night: “The twins will go down in BB history.
They’ve managed to steer clear of all the bitching and back-stabbing which has made them firm favourites amongst the punters. If they’re crowned queens of BB their army of fans will only increase. Read more & comment »
