So we’re passed the halfway mark, it’s week five on the Biggest Loser and the competition is growing as their weight is diminishing.

The growing divide in the house throwing pressure on both the contestants and the trainers after Rob Edmonds’ Black Team made a controversial elimination decision last week. Rob, unhappy with their choice, ensures that his team are given their just deserts for making such a contentious choice and losing the weekly challenge.

He wakes the contestants up at the crack of dawn and sets them off on a hike in the pitch black. Whilst the other contestants are waking up, the Black Team is already in the middle of the woods attempting to erect a tent under the watchful eye of taskmaster Rob. One of his team members is worried that the great outdoors will not bring the same weight loss results as the gym and is desperate to return to ‘normality’. But is Rob’s punishment a mere disguise for wanting to toughen his team up and strengthen their bond?

Back at the house, the contestants notice the Black Teams’ absence but carry on with their gruelling daily training schedule as usual. Trainer Richard Callender reminds his Blue team ‘no matter how tired you are, remember, Rob is doing far worse.’ The White team begin to recognise one another’s qualities creating an air of confidence and unity amongst themselves. Eventually, the Black Team returns back from Rob’s camping trip to a frosty reception from their fellow contestants.

This weeks’ challenge forces the competitors to throw themselves headfirst towards the ultimate prize of immunity. The Challenge ‘Sprint and Slide’ involves a waterslide, a buzzer and a very steep hill! The Teams take part in time limited rounds, with one team member participating per round but as the challenge goes on the rounds get shorter. The first person that can’t press the button in the allotted time means that their team will face a two pound weight disadvantage at the Weigh- in. In contrast to this, the team who are last standing at the end of ‘Sprint and Slide’ will receive a two pound advantage.

However this isn’t the end of the contestants’ worries as this week there’s an unexpected twist at the elimination; as always the highest percentage weight loss team is safe, but what will happen to the remaining teams?

ITV have announced that Davina McCall is coming back with a new series of The Biggest Loser in just a few weeks time.

The former Big Brother star – who is currently fronting Channel 4 gameshow series Million Pound Drop Live – will return to our screens with 14 overweight hopefuls who are desperate to shed some pounds and change their lives.

Instead of a sprawling ranch in which the US version takes place, the contestants will instead take residence in an English Leicestershire mansion and will combine a programme of rigorous exercise with healthy eating in a bid to triumph on the reality TV show.

In the first episode, viewers meet the UK’s heaviest ever Biggest Loser contestant, as well as seeing oneteam member making a devastating discovery which leaves them alone to face the trials ahead.

The series premiere will see the contestants split into seven pairs and each will have to head home and face their families and their fears in a hometown weigh-in. Davina will shake things up even more, as she sets them an opening challenge and informs the chunky hopefuls that they must run 5K to the Biggest Loser house before they even get to unpack their bags. The couple who arrive over the finish line first have immunity at this week’s while the couple who arrive last are automatically up for elimination and will face the couple who have lost the least amount of weight at the end of the week.

After the departure and then death of former trainer Angie Dowds, the contestants will instead work with veteran Biggest Loser fitness expert Richard Callender along with 2010 Personal Trainer of the Year, Charlotte Ord, and ex-Special Forces, Rob Edmond.

The body of Angie Dowds has reportedly been found on a beach, it has been reported.

The personal fitness trainer, who was last year sacked from ITV1′s Biggest Loser series – is believed to have jumped to her death from the cliffs at Beachy Head, Eastbourne, East Sussex and her body was later found on the beach below.

It is believed that the blonde star was suffering from depression, after facing a tough year in her personal life. She split from fiancee Corrie Preece just a few months ago and some claim she had suffered from drink and drug dependency problems in the past.

A Sussex Police spokesman confirmed the news today, stating:

‘Just after 4.30pm on Sunday members of the public reported that a woman was seen to jump or fall from the top of cliffs at Beachy Head.

‘Coastguards found the body of woman at the foot of the cliffs about an hour later.

‘There are no suspicious circumstances and it is believed that the body may be that of a 42-year old woman from London.’

Angie was sacked by ITV bosses last year, after she was caught telling her contestants to cheat. The fitness trainer has worked on the ITV weight loss show since 2005, but during the last series, producers overheard her telling her team to eat just fruit and nuts ahead of their next weigh-in, in a bid to drop pounds more rapidly.

Insiders say that she remained friendly with the show;s presenter Dabina McCall and she paid tribute to her pal on Twitter last night, writing:

‘Rest in peace Angie Dowds @angechops. So so sad.’

On a fan group dedicated to Angie on Facebook, fans posted messages of condolence. One wrote:

I’ve just woke up to the sad news that Angie Dowds my friend and mentor has passed away…. The strongest most amazing light has just gone and I’m so glad I was a part of that for even the shortest time… I still hear your voice in my head shouting “Never give up….Black Team”

Another added:

OMG cannot believe it you will be so sadly missed thinkin of your family at this very hard and sad time God Bless you Angie R.I.P. XXXXXXX

A third fan continued:

So sadly missed. Thank you so much for helping me put my life back in order. You placed me on the first step and shinned me up a couple more. God bless with all my heart. Thank you for inspiring me and everyone else you touch upon xxx

Jillian Michaels has announced than upon her departure from hit TV show The Biggest Loser, she will be moving to another popular series.

The wellness expert will join the panel on ‘The Doctors’ under a big dollar multi-year deal and she will also take on the role of special correspondent on lifestyle issues on “Dr. Phil.”

Phil McGraw – a TV psychologist who helped create the series – praised the star saying:

“Jillian Michaels is the perfect addition to ‘The Doctors’ team,”

“She not only embraces our mission to supply viewers with critical information to make informed and intelligent health care decisions, but more importantly, she leads by example.”

Michaels admitted that she is ‘excited’ about her new job and in a statement about the move, wrote:

“It allows me to continue to educate people on how to make powerful health choices enabling them to take control of not only their physical well-being, but every facet of their lives.”

Wil Graham jogged his way to victory on last night’s Biggest Loser final.

The 29-year-old from Ayrshire, previously admitted that he hasn’t had a girlfriend in more than ten years because he was so despondent about his weight, however last night it was revealed that Wil had dropped 8st 7lb while competing on the ITV reality TV show. He won the £25,000 cash prize and went on to be crowned ‘The Biggest Loser’ by show host Davina McCall.

Speaking about the new life stretching out ahead of him, Wil told The Mirror:

“I’ll be 30 this month and I’m really looking forward to it. I feel like I’ve lost my 20s, I let my weight hold me back.

“I didn’t have a girlfriend in my 20s. If someone showed any interest I’d think they were taking the Mick or doing it for a bet. If I didn’t like myself, how could anyone else? I’ve been on a few dates. I haven’t found the right person yet, but I’ve got hope now.”

On what he will do with his winnings, Wil told The Daily Record:

“We have never had the money. My mum and dad have always worked really hard for the family, so I can’t wait to take them away.

“I am going to let them choose the destination. They fancy Greece or Turkey but I have told them to look a bit further afield because we can afford it.”

He added:

“I would not have even been able to stand up and watch someone do a triathlon. My whole attitude has changed and I am really lucky I got the chance to appear on the Biggest Loser. I didn’t have a life before, Biggest Loser has given me one.”

Angie Dowds has been axed from The Biggest Loser, after she was caught telling her contestants to cheat.

The fitness trainer has worked on the ITV weight loss show since 2005 and should know the rules of the competition by now. However producers overheard her telling her team to eat just fruit and nuts ahead of their next weigh-in, while the premise of the show is that the overweight contestants drop pounds by eating normal, healthy meals and by exercising regularly.

Angie told The Sun:

“The day before weigh-in I decided to tell my Black Team to go off-plan and eat apples and nuts to try and get as much weight off as possible on that weigh-in.

“It’s not the Biggest Loser way and I made a bad choice. My competitiveness had taken over. My head was just, ‘Go to win’.

“We decided between us, the producers and I, that it was best for me to take a step back at that point, which means my Black Team loses their trainer in the most crucial two weeks.

“By just that one silly decision, I really let those guys down.

“To have to walk away was just devastating, but it was the right thing to do.”

Angie’s Black Team will now join the Blue team and train with Richard Callender.

GMTV presenter, Kate Garraway has been announced as the new host of ITV’s ‘The Biggest Lose’.

Kate, who recently announced that she was pregnant with her second child told Metro:

“Every contestant has a different reason for wanting to take part. Some are longing to have a baby, but their weight is preventing them, some are looking for love, and others have been told that if they don’t shed the pounds they could die, so for them the show really is a last chance, literally a matter of life and death.

“I have been so moved and often completely inspired by many of the contestants’ stories and I know people watching at home will be gripped too.”
