Poor Karen Hardy. She won last years show and even got to perform tonight with Mark, her partner from last year. But in this all new series of Strictly Come Dancing, Karen was paired with Brian, of the two left feet, Capron, and has ended up being the first to leave the ballroom extravaganza.
I didn’t expect much from Brian after last night’s wooden performance, so it was no shock to see him voted off the show tonight.
When told he was leaving, Brian said:

Former Coronation Street actor Brian Capron has revealed that he hopes to land all the granny votes in the newest series of Strictly Come Dancing.
“A lot of my fan base are grannies,” he says.
“Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald on Corrie, got a photograph of me and stuck it on the Coronation Street board and underneath it he wrote Granny’s Crumpet!
Not many of us will forget the face of Brian Capron, aka Richard Hilman from Coronation Street.
Although he has appeared in numerous shows since leaving the ITV soap, he will always be best remembered as murderer Hillman, who killed Maxine Peacock with a crowbar.
However, Richard hopes that we can put our loathing to one side while he trips the light fantastic on this years series of Strictly Come Dancing.
“There are a lot of people who still think I’ve got a crowbar in my trousers,” Richard told the Manchester Evening News. “Naturally I think it’s an opportunity for people to see the real me.
“This seems to be the best reality programme because it’s a real challenge, a lot of fun and all my family and friends seem to love it.” Read more & comment »

Brian’s acting career has spanned over 35 years, but it is for the role of serial killer Richard Hillman in Coronation Street that he is best known.
He has also appeared as Ozias Harding in ITV1’s Where the Heart Is and toured the UK and starred in the West End as the narrator in the musical The Rocky Horror Show.
In 2003, Brian won Best Actor, Best Exit and Villain Of The Year at the British Soap Awards. The same year he was also nominated for the Most Popular Actor at the National Television Awards.
