Brian Friedman has promised big things from The X Factor USA.

The choreographer works as creative director on the new series of the American show, having previously masterminded the live performances on the UK version until last year.

He told MTV news that Simon Cowell’s latest venture will be bigger and better than any before, adding:

“Basically The X Factor in the US is every reality show you’ve [ever] seen on steroids,!”

Brian will choreograph and stage manage all the live performances on the series, from the final contestants who make the live shows. He and Simon Cowell have had cross words previously over his wacky extras on roller skates or strange interpretive dancers, and he said fans can expect more ‘rule breaking’ behaviour when the show launches later this month.

Friedman added:

“The performances that we do on there are boundless; there are no boundaries. We don’t stand inside a box. There is no right or wrong. Every rule you could possibly break in TV, [we do]. So expect to be wowed every week.”

The X Factor USA kicks off on Wednesday, September 21 and Thursday, September 22 at 8pm ET on Fox.

Brian Friedman has claimed that the American public will adore Cheryl Cole if she lands a job on the new X Factor series.

Simon Cowell is said to be warring with US TV bosses, as he tries to land the Geordie beauty a role on his new judging panel and if she manages to secure a spot, Friedman thinks she’ll be a huge success.

‘They will love her – she’s like a little goddess Barbie doll,’ he told Now.

‘I don’t know if they would understand her, though. I often can’t! But I couldn’t imagine Cheryl speaking differently – it makes her unique.’

The X Factor creative director also can’t decided whether he wants to work on the American or British version of the talent show, saying that he doesn’t have time for both.

‘I can’t do both. I may be in America for X Factor and not in the UK,’ Brian, 33, added.

‘I need to figure it out because I can’t give my London life a complete break – I love it here.’

Brian Friedman has claimed that he loves working with Cher Lloyd on the X Factor.

The creative director said that the teenage singer ‘knows what looks good’ on stage and added that she always makes his routines her own.

He told ITV.com:

“Cher is a real natural on stage. You don’t have to tell her too much, or ask her to tone her down too much. She has a great sensibility for her body, she knows what looks good on her, she knows what doesn’t look good on her.

“You give her some little dance steps and she makes it her own. I’m loving the way that Cher is working the stage.”

Joking about the bad dancing of the other finalists’ Brian added:

“Anybody else… eek, it’s not a year for dancers, let’s just say that much. We don’t have an Alexandra, who can pull out a routine or a JLS, who you can give great routines.

“But we have a got a great year of artists, who are all individual and can’t be duplicated.”

Brian Friedman has admitted that Cher Lloyd’s ‘chip on her shoulder’ has caused many problems this year.

The X Factor creative director confirmed that the 17 year old singer is ‘terribly insecure’ and said that she’s always fighting back, even when no one is standing against her.

He told Star magazine:

“Little Cher’s just got a mild chip on her shoulder that comes across as swag.

“She always seems like she’s fighting back, without anyone fighting her.

“When you want something so bad, you can stand in your own way.

“I think she does that a lot.”

On Saturday night’s Xtra Factor, Brian also confirmed rumours that Cher has threw a bit of a strop at Friday’s dress rehearsals. He thinks the temper tantrums are mostly due to her young age and told konnie Huq:

I think age has a lot to do with it. I know at 17, I was feeling different than I do now. You have a lot of insecurities and things you have to overcome and to overcome them in front of this many people is a lot to do so I’ll give her her tantrum.

Brian Friedman has admitted that he struggled to work with Wagner Carillho on the X Factor.

The Brazilian singer – who was eliminated from the ITV show slightly more than a week ago – was well known to consider himself something of a ladies man and choreography expert Friedman revealed that this attitude towards women caused a whole host of problems when it came to the sexy backing dancers.

He told Star Magazine:

“He was really pervy and touchy. Not in a way that you were afraid he would actually do anything, though, just like: ‘Eww don’t touch me!’ A bit creepy. I had to pry him off some girls and tell him: ‘You can’t touch them.’”

Brian added: “You would say: ‘Walk from here to here on this word’, and he would have to ask you 60 questions. He was definitely the most difficult to work with.”

X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman has revealed that he threatened to stop working with Cher Lloyd, if she didn’t stop her temper tantrums.

The Creative Director has previously talked about Cher’s ‘meltdowns’, putting her volatile behaviour down to her young age.

In a new interview with Star magazine he admitted that he has started being tough on the 17 year old, in a bid to get the best from her. He said:

“I told her I wouldn’t deal with tantrums or crying – and that if she acted like a child I wouldn’t deal with her.”

He added: “It worked. Being tough on her was the best way to get her to perform. You’ve got to make her mad at you so she fights back.”

He added:

“She has her moments. She gets affected by any mistake, and is highly sensitive. I’d never heard so much controversy over someone sitting on a staircase. The week after, she was scared about getting on the car when she sang [Avril Lavigne's] Girlfriend.”

Cher escaped elimination on Sunday’s semi final results show, but did find herself in the sing off alongside Mary Byrne. On This Morning yesterday, vocal coach Yvie Burnett admitted that she is struggling with the knowledge that she is the least popular contestant performing in this weekend’s final shows.

X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman has admitted that Cher Lloyd did throw a bit of a hissy fit at yesterday’s dress rehearsal.

It had previously been reported that Cher stormed off stage and squared up to a camera woman, after getting flustered and upset by one of her songs for tonight’s semi final show.

Speaking about the incident on The Xtra Factor, American dance expert Brian Friedman said:

She had a little bit of a meltdown. I don’t know why it happened, I think it had something to do with the song, she wasn’t used to the intro, she hadn’t heard it before she got onstage. So she had a bit of a moment and she had some tears and had to step away and Cheryl and her had a pow wow and she came back and she was magical.

He added:

I can’t be mad at her, she had to go through it and she’s 17 years old.

Cher wowed most of the judging panel with her two hip hop themed performances tonight. Dannii Minogue did admit that she would have liked to hear her sing one ballad, but after her final song ‘Love The Way You Lie,’ Simon Cowell raved:

It was a risk taking on Eminem and Rihanna but for me it worked. Again, I don’t think that you’ve sold out. You’ve stuck to the type of music that you believe in and are passionate about. There weren’t really any gimmicks, other than the fire and I liked the fact that it was you, raw, doing what you do best. I’m a huge fan, you know that.

Brian Friedman has admitted that his job will be easier, now that Wagner Carillho has been eliminated from The X Factor.

The show’s creative director told PA that the Brazilian singer has ‘no talent’ and explained that he always struggled to perform his routines on the weekly live show.

Brian said: “He is not a great singer and he doesn’t do well with staging, so it always came down to me and I really felt the pressure to make it amazing.

“It is definitely a weight off my shoulders. He was like a big grey elephant in the room. But I had no issues with him other than he has no talent.”

He added: “I am proud of the work I did with him, it was always spectacular. There were a couple of weeks where strange things happened on stage that I had no control over.

“Typically, Louis (Walsh, Wager’s mentor) wanted dancing skeletons and cats in Halloween week when I wanted something much cooler.”

But Friedman wasn’t so elated to see Katie Waissel get voted off last Sunday.

He said: “I honestly thought that it could turn around for her. The public can’t hate her for her vocal ability, but they don’t seem to like her personality. I think aggressive people are more accepted in America. Here, voters root for the underdog on shows like this. They want the painter or quiet Liverpudlian, because it is like them.”

Brian Friedman has blasted X Factor contestant Wagner Carillho, saying that he is ‘terrible’ to work with.

Brian acts as creative director on the ITV1 show and is responsible for Wagner’s weird and wacky dance routines each Saturday night.

In an interview with The Express Friedman, who has previously worked with Michael Jackson, Brityney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls, admitted that he doesn’t exactly look forward to their rehearsal sessions.

“He is the worst contestant in my four years,” Brian admitted.

“It’s absolutely terrible working with him as he doesn’t remember lyrics or staging.”

Brian also revealed that it was he that suggested Matt danced on his performance of Come Together last night, though he admitted that he isn’t a natural mover either.

He said:

“Matt is not a dancer. He gets all coy when we do the group rehearsals.”

One act that does stand out for Brian is 17 year old rapper and singer Cher Lloyd. Admitting that she is easy to teach, he said:

“She is a really good performer and she picks up the moves easily in the ensemble numbers.”

“I predict it will be Rebecca (Ferguson) Matt and One Direction, though it’s not a choice I agree or disagree with.”

Pineapple Dance star Louie Spence has spoken of his admiration of X Factor creative director Brian Friedman, saying that the American dance expert “has such a hard job”.

Speaking to Star magazine Louie admitted that he doesn’t envy Brian and would never want his job, he said:

“He has to choreograph all those numbers and is responsible for the whole set.”

“I did that, not to that extent, but I’ve done choreography before and I’m much happier with what’s happened to me.

“It’s amazing and I just have to be me. I don’t want his job – I’m very happy with where I’ve been put in the public eye, just me being me.”
