When Sport Relief The Final Score was shown on BBC 1 yesterday (shown again tonight at 23:25 BBC1) Twitter was soon flooded with messages at how David Walliams reuniting with Phillip, (the child that inspired him to do his long, gruelling swim down the River Thames) made them cry.

Among them was Dannielle Murray Tweeting: “Just been reduced to tears watching David Walliams go back to Africa to see that wee boy. What a lovely man”.

The short film showed David travelling back to Africa to see how Phillip was doing and how Sport Relief’s money had been spent. I always like this end of year special, it’s good to have a charity that shows the people giving what happens with the money collected… Read more & comment »

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: David Walliams says being on BGT has been “like a reinvention” of himself

Stardust European premiere - London

While speaking to the Daily Mirror about his role as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent – to which he is of course returning next year – comedian and author David Walliams has revealed that being a part of the show was akin to “reinventing” himself.

Prior to becoming a judge on BGT, David had of course been best known for his comedy roles and shows, and arguably of those, he was best known for his role alongside Matt Lucas in Little Britain.

He told the paper, “Britain’s Got Talent gave me a whole new lease of life where people could see me as myself…

“It was nice to be me rather than a character in a sketch and it seemed to work.

“When you’ve not got a script, people start to see you as you… Read more & comment »

Britain’s Got Talent 2012: David Walliams has QUIT new quiz show, I Love My Country!

Back in the summer – remember summer? It was that day you went out without a coat on and opened a window – Britain’s Got Talent host David Walliams began working on a new quiz show entitled, I Love My Country…

As we reported at the time, he tweeted how happy he was to be taking part in the show alongside team captains Frank Skinner and Micky Flanagan. In July, just hours after recording a pilot episode for the show, David tweeted that it was “really funny” and that he couldn’t wait for it to air.

The next day, the show’s producer Spencer Millman said on Twitter, “After watching last nights studio rushes all I can say is I am a lucky man to have been able to work with such amazing talent.”

However, it’s been reported by the Daily Mirror today that “after weeks of rehearsals” David has mysteriously quit the show, citing his reason for exiting as being his busy schedule… Read more & comment »

And today, the choir’s maestro Tim Rhys-Evans has confirmed that he and the OBA choir will be performing live during this weekend’s X Factor final. Yay!

Tim, who’s now 40, said of the trauma, “It wasn’t ever terribly physical but whoever made up the ‘sticks and stones’ saying was talking rubbish.

Simon Cowell has signed up Sharon Osbourne & Ashleigh Butler to judge new dog talent show, Take the Lead!

X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent guru Simon Cowell has put his money where his mouth is in terms of burying the hatchet with former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne by signing her up as a judge on his new pooch talent quest, Take the Lead…

So this pilgrim is keeping everything crossed that this could be a sign that Sharon may yet take up her seat on X Factor again, given that her nemesis Dannii Minogue is no longer on the show.

X Factor 2012: Insider says that if Chris Maloney wins, Simon Cowell has “found a loophole which means he can dump Chris within weeks!” Is this another Jai McDowall moment?

There’s a sense of déjà vu in a report this morning in the Daily Star that claims a music industry insider has claimed that Simon Cowell is “terrified” that X Factor finalist Chris Maloney may win the show…

So much so that apparently, he’s had his lawyers scour the contract that the X Factor winner is automatically awarded, and to his relief, he’s been told there’s a “loophole” within it that means he can ditch Christopher “within weeks.”

All of which rather much reminds me of events after Jai McDowall won Britain’s Got Talent, then, after the shortest metaphorical fifteen minutes of fame in the history of fame, we neither saw nor heard from Jai again!

Jai of course won BGT in 2011, but in March of this year, the Daily Mail reported that Simon had unceremoniously ditched the Scots singer… Read more & comment »

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle’s PR team sparked some hilarity on Twitter yesterday when they accidentally invited SuBo fans to her “anal bum party” by hashtagging, ‘susanalbumparty’
