George Sampson may have won Britain’s Got Talent last Saturday night, but it has emerged that doctors have told him that he needs to stop dancing or he may end up crippled with pain.
George was diagnosed with a serious spine condition Scheuermann’s disease which has already caused him to go temporarily blind in one eye.
‘The doctors have said it’s not great for him to be breakdancing, especially landing so hard on his back,’ said George’s mum Lesley. Read more & comment »

OK, I wrote the Britain’s Got Talent final post yesterday, and there’ve been some interesting comments on that thread that I’d like to highlight and respond to.
First, I don’t think there’s anything the Britain’s Got Talent producers can do to fix the vote at the phone-in stage. The most they can do is influence the voting public through the video links for each contestant.
Why would they do that? Well, dear reader - let’s assume teenage girls are a key demographic of shows like BGT and X Factor. Let’s also assume that those teenage girls are very trigger-happy with their phones and text votes. Now, let’s take a wild, wild leap of fantasy and imagine that the producers of the show make money from phone votes. Lots of money. No, obscene amounts of money.

Twelve year old singer, Faryl Smith is reported to have almost pulled out of the Britain’s Got Talent competition after she feared that she was too young for fame.
Faryl and her parents decided after her first appearance that the attention may be too much for Faryl at such a young age, however judge Simon Cowell rang the family three times and guaranteed them that he would look after the girl personally.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “The reaction Faryl got from that first audition was incredible. But her parents felt completely overwhelmed by it all. They weren’t sure that at just 12 Faryl was ready for the attention. Read more & comment »

They’re calling it a big fix over on our forum, but dancer George Sampson has won Britain’s Got Talent 2008. The final line-up was:
- George Sampson
- Signature
- Andrew Johnston
George won after performing a pumped-up version of Singing In The Rain which finished with him getting drenched on stage. It was all very visually stunning, but you can’t help wondering what set George apart from all the other dance acts who participated.

Britain’s Got Finalist, Gin the dog, is under close guard today, as fears rise that she could fall foul of dogknappers, wanting to make a few pounds by ransoming the owners of the newly famous pooch.
Gin’s owner Kate is said to behind all the security.
“She and her family are going to extraordinary lengths to keep Gin safe,” a source told the Daily Star. “Kate cannot bear the thought of anything happening to Gin - she’s her best friend and soulmate. She can’t bear the thought of someone harming Gin or stealing her. Read more & comment »

Simon Cowell has revealed that he can understand why fans of the show are accusing the producers of manipulating the public vote, by placing their favourite act last each night.
The winning act from every semi final this week was the last act to perform on the show and receive the judges comments.
“It does look strange. But, to be honest, I think this is more down to the editorial content of the show,” Cowell told the Daily Star. “It is not a fix. Read more & comment »

Britains Got Talent finalist, Andrew Muir, has promised that he will ditch the yellow shoes and yellow watch for his performance tonihgt.
Andrew wore the yellow accessories for his semi final performance on Thursday night, but the judges all hated them, and Amanda told him to sack his stylist.
“I liked the trainers because they stood out and were a wee bit different but the judges do know their stuff so I will take all the advice they give me,” Andrew told the Daily Record. Read more & comment »

Before I start talking about who got through tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent semi finals, can I please mention how cheesy and ridiculous it was of the BGT producers to plaster a huge picture of Madonna’s children across the screen as she was singing The Greatest Love Of All.
I know that the British public are easy to manipulate, but this really was one step too far. The woman is not a great singer. She is a good singer who only ended up in the final because of her sob story. It is a sad story, there is no doubting that, and I would love for Madonna to earn enough money to bring her children to live with her in the UK. But this show is called Britain’s Got Talent, not Britain’s Got A HEART! I refuse to vote for someone just because some telly bigwig thinks he can make me cry by putting pictures of cute kids on a huge screen! Read more & comment »

I think everyone will have noticed that there is a definite pattern in this years Britain’s Got Talent competition. As we mentioned in a previous post, for the last four nights running the last act of the night tends to be the judges favourite and each time has been the first act through to the final.
Many people have claimed that producers are doing this on purpose to manipulate the public into voting for the acts that they want to see in the final. Certainly, when the voting lines open, not only is the last act fresh in your mind, but they are still having praise heaped on them by the panel of judges. Take into consideration that the lines are only open for ten minutes, and it’s not surprising that the final act wins each night. Read more & comment »

Once again on Britain’s Got Talent, the last one in was the first one through to Saturdays final. Faryl Smith was the last performer to appear on the show last night and only moments later won a place in the final. The judges also chose Andrew Muir to go through.
Each night this week the pattern has remained the same, with Signature, George Sampson and Andrew Johnston all performing at the end and all getting through first. Read more & comment »

They might juts be the cutest kids alive, but Britain’s Got Talent finalists Cheeky Monkeys have been really living up to their name according to The Mirror.
The little scamps have admitted that they regularly paly tricks on their rivals, Strike.
“We’ve been ringing their hotel room up and saying, ‘Hello room service’,” confessed Krista, nine.
“We put a piece of paper saying £10 room service under their door and knocked and ran away.” Read more & comment »

It was second time lucky for George Sampson on the Britain’s Got Talent semi final tonight.
George auditioned last year but failed to make it into the semi-finals. Tonight he performed a street dance routine to the Sinatra classic, Singin In The Rain. At the end of the show he got the most votes and has now made it to Saturday’s final.
Joining George in the final are martial arts duo, Strike. Liam Richards and Daniel Ball took the Judges vote over ten year old Charlie Green. You gotta feel bad when the kids miss out. Read more & comment »
