Vernon Kay is ‘desperate’ to replace Bruce Forsyth on Strictly Come Dancing 2011

Vernon Kay has reportedly refused to sign another contract with ITV, as he hopes to move to BBC for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.

TV executives had allegedly spent weeks trying to tie the ‘All Star Family Fortunes’ into another contract – he signed a £900,000 one-year deal with ITV in 2010 – but he refused to be tied to one channel and insiders say he is holding out for Bruce Forsyth’s job.

Vernon Kay to replace Bruce Forsyth on Strictly Come Dancing?

BBC bosses are reportedly planning to replace Bruce Forsyth on next year’s Strictly Come Dancing series.

Producers are worried that the 82 year old presenter is growing too old and tired to withstand the pressures of the popular TV show and instead plan to offer the job to Vernon Kay, whose wife Tess Daly also fronts the dance extravaganza.

Strictly Come Dancing 2011: Bruce Forsyth expected to retire

Bruce Forsyth is expected to step down from Strictly Come Dancing, before next year’s series kicks off.

The 82 year old presenter was said to be exhausted by Saturday night’s final, messing up his lines at times and seeming slightly confused at others.

He has already given up on fronting the Sunday night results show, with Claudia Winkleman taking over his role and Strictly insiders say it is only matter of time before the TV veteran retires completely.

John Barrowman would like to replace Bruce Forsyth on Strictly Come Dancing

John Barrowman has admitted that he would love to present Strictly Come Dancing when Bruce Forsyth retires.

The Torchwood star, who last year enjoyed a guest starring role in Desperate Housewives, said:

“Brucie is a TV icon. If he were to offer those dancing shoes to me, I’d gladly take them. It would be an incredible gig.”

Strictly Come Dancing presenter Bruce Forsyth has claimed that this series of the BBC show will do well, because of the interesting stars that are competing in it.

The 82 year old singled out former Tory MP Ann Widdecombe for praise, saying that she “alone is absolutely wonderful.”

Bruce Forsyth is reportedly planning to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

The 82 year old has already stepped down from presenting the Sunday night’s results show and has been replaced on it by It Takes Two host Claudia Winkleman. Insiders say that the TV veteran is tiring of life in the spotlight and the heavy workload that comes with fronting a primetime TV show and so plans to step aside for the 2011 series.

Bruce Forsyth has admitted that his life will be a lot easier, now that he doesn’t have to present the Strictly Come Dancing results show.

Bruce Forsyth buys headstone for great-granddad


During his appearance on Who Do You Think You Are? Bruce Forsyth discovered that his great-grandfather, Joseph Forsyth, led a double life, but died almost penniless.

The show, in which celebrities delve into family archives to discover more about their ancestors, can be seen tomorrow night on BBC1, and it seems it all had a profound effect on Bruce.

According to the Sunday Mirror, he discovered that Joseph “had two families either side of the Atlantic and, after a career as a landscape gardener, died with only £253 to his name in Brooklyn, New York.” Read more & comment »

Bruce Forsyth “cutting down” on Strictly Come Dancing role

It’s being reported today that as part of his negotiations for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing role, host Bruce Forsyth has asked the show’s bosses to cut back on his appearances.

82 year old Bruce has reportedly asked that he appear only on the live Saturday show rather than appearing on both Saturday and Sunday’s shows.

The Sunday edition is of course when the public vote results are revealed.

Bruce Forsyth: “I won’t do a Christine”

During an interview with the Radio Times, Strictly Come Dancing host Bruce Forsyth revealed that despite receiving a cut in pay last year, he won’t “do a Christine” and leave the BBC.

And it seems that negotiations for Bruce’s role this year on the popular dance show are still ongoing, but he said, “It’s going well.

Bruce added, “The BBC won’t disclose individual salaries.

“The last thing you want is people being competitive about them.”
