Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty has been arrested at an Indian airport after officials insisted she was still wanted in connection with recent obscenity charges.

The Bollywood actress reportedly burst into tears after being stopped at Mumbai Airport, on her way to the opening of the Miss Bollywood musical in Berlin.

Her spokesman, Dale Bhagwagar, said: “She called me in the middle of the night and was in tears.”

It has been revealed this week that Channel 4 made this years Big Brother 8 dull on purpose. The series was the least watched yet, there were very few fights, next to no explosive personalities and only one lapdancer (I refuse to count Shanessa).

But Tim Hincks, creative director of producers Endemol told the Sun newspaper that after the fiasco that was Celebrity Big Brother 2007, Channel 4 and the shows makers decided to play it safe this summer.

Thank the Lord! Channel 4 has scrapped Celebrity Big Brother.

Channel 4 head of programmes Julian Bellamy said: “After the race row, it was constantly in the press and part of the national conversation at a time when traditionally it was off our screens - it feels like it has never been away this year.”

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV festival, Mr Bellamy added that resting the show “will benefit the format in the longer term as it will have a bit of breathing space”.

The Sun newspaper has revealed that celebrity heiress, Paris Hilton has been signed up for Celebrity Big Brother next year.

A Big Bro source said: “We told Paris, ‘Name your price’.

“We’re in firm talks, and it would be a fantastic coup to get her.”

An insider said Paris is aiming to show she is more than an “heirhead socialite”.

Indian actress, Shilpa Shetty is being tipped as the next Bond girl to star opposite Daniel Craig.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner is said to be very close to completing the deal, and the filmmakers are desperate to sign her due to her popularity all over Asia.

Celebrity Big brother’s golden couple, Chantelle Houghton and Preston have announced their split today.

The pair got married only ten months ago, and though many thought they did it just for the fame and magazine deals the pair still claim that they were madly in love.

“After much soul-searching and tearful discussions we have sadly decided to end our marriage,” a statement said.

“No one else is involved in our decision,”

“We hope we can always remain friends and still love each other, but we both think we put so much pressure on one another to make our marriage work that it has ended up destroying our relationship.”

After her recent, surprisingly successful stint on American show, Dancing With Stars, the producers of Celebrity Big Brother have been reportedly anxious to sign her up for their next series.

But her spokesman said on Monday: “It is true that Heather has been approached by the producers of several reality TV shows, but she has declined on every occasion and will not be appearing on any such programme.

“She took part in Dancing With The Stars to raise money for one of the charities she supports, but it was a one-off and there are no plans to do any others in the future.

“People have been wishing her luck on Celebrity Big Brother when she is out shopping or playing with her daughter and she feels it unfair the public have been misled.

“It has also led to an increase in attention from paparazzi photographers around her home. Heather is hoping this will end the speculation.”

Celebrity Big Brother contestant, Danielle Lloyd is worried that she may have cancer after doctors found a lump near to one of her breast implants.

“It could be cancer but they will not know until they investigate,” a friend told the News of the World. “Danielle wants everything to be sorted as soon as possible. One breast has swollen and she is in a lot of discomfort.

“They are going to remove the implant on Tuesday and see what has happened.”

Richard Gere landed himself in hot water this month by kissing Celebrity Big Brother winner, Shilpa Shetty at an AIDS Awareness event. The Indian government have ordered his arrest and Indian males have been burning efigies of him all week.

An Indian court ordered the arrest of Hollywood movie star Richard Gere on Thursday for kissing Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty at an AIDS campaign event this month saying it was an obscene act committed in public.

Gere’s repeated kisses on Shetty’s cheeks at an event to promote AIDS awareness in New Delhi sparked protests in some parts of India, mostly by Hindu vigilante groups, who saw it as an outrage against her modesty and an affront to Indian culture.

The order by a court in the northern city of Jaipur came in response to a complaint by a local lawyer.

The judge watched a video recording of Gere kissing Shetty and found him guilty of violating Indian laws against public obscenity, the lawyer, Poonam Chand Bhandari, said.

The court also summoned Shilpa Shetty to appear on May 5, Bhandari said, adding that Gere was also ordered to be arrested.

Gere can be sent to jail for up to three months or fined or both for the crime if he is arrested. He is not in India now but can be held if he visits the country again.

The Hollywood star is a devout Buddhist and a vocal supporter of the Tibetan cause and visits India frequently to meet the Dalai Lama, who lives in exile in northern India.
