Tv Bosses Recruit In Austrailia For Celebrity X Factor 2006 and Celebrity Love Island 2006

In order to spice things up this summer ITV bosses have gone Down Under to recruit celebrities for the summers hottest reality TV shows.

Melissa George, who played tearaway Angel Brooks in Home and Away, has just been recruited to Celebrity Love Island.

Neighbours star Daniel MacPherson has been added to the cast of Celebrity X Factor after producers saw him presenting the Australian version of the show. Daniel who also appeared in The Bill as PC Cameron Tait, reveals: “I play the guitar and sing and I’ve even contemplated a pop career – but that would be selling out.�

Who Will Present Celebrity Love Island 2006?

We previously reported that ITV had decided soon after the last series of Celebrity Love Island that it would be Kelly Brook’s last.

The competition is now hotting up as ITV get closer to appointing her successor.

The word is that former favourite Denise Van Outen is facing some rather hot competition from Liza Tarbuck and Daisy Donovan.

All three are said to be currently doing screen tests with their co presenter Patrick Kielty in a bid to ensure that whoever does get the role doesn’t end up giving as wooden and boring a perfomance as Kelly!

Chris Eubank Next To Sign Up For Celebrity Love Island 2006

You would have thought that a stint in Celebrity Big Brother would have been enough reality TV to last a lifetime, but The Sun has today reported that former boxer Chris Eubank is the next in a long line of celebrities to have been signed up for Celebrity Love Island this summer.

A pal of Chris’ said
“Chris absolutely loved it when he did Celebrity Big Brother.

“He said that having the cameras on him 24/7 was one of the highlights of his life.

“He’s got a few things that he wants to get off his chest too — and, remember, that’s some chest he’s got.

“He’ll look great strutting up and down the beach and the producers know that.�

Chris is also keen to earn a bit of extra cash after running up a 1.3 million pound tax bill, so no doubt the £200,000 fee he is being paid will come in handy!

Michelle McManus and Jono Coleman Set For Celebrity Love Island 2006

Another day another rumour. This time wanadoo are reporting that larger than life Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus is the latest celebrity to be signed up to appear in Celebrity Love Island this May.

The show’s host Patrick Kielty said: “I understand Michelle’s lost a lost of weight now so maybe it’s time to get her hooked up with a fella.� Now, who could refuse an invitation like that?

DJ and Celebrity Fit Club star Jono Coleman is also said to be considering appearing ont he show. Could this be a match made in heaven?

Anthony Hutton for Celebrity Love Island 2006?

Another name has been added to the possible contestant line up for this summer Celebrity Love Island.

Big Brother winner Anthony Hutton is now said to have been approached by ITV staff about appearing on the show.

A source from the show has said that “Anthony is single, good-looking and loves to party. He’s perfect.”

Anthony was beaten up in Manchester’s trendy Baby Grand nightclub last week, so lets hope he recovers in time for the show starting in May!

ITV Want Rachel Hunter For Celebrity Love Island

After Kelly Brook failed miserable last year to endear herself to the viewers of the hit show Celebrity Love Island, ITV this year are searching for someone with a bit more talent.

The producers of the show are rumoured to be in negotiations with model and presenter Rachel Hunter to step into Kelly’s shoes.

ITV insiders have admitted that Kelly failed to gel with her co-presenter, Patrick Kielty. “Last year, we hoped Kelly and Patrick would make a good double act. But it didn’t work out,� a source told the Daily Star. “They didn’t fit together on screen and their banter was wooden and contrived – and fans didn’t buy it. But we think Rachel will get along with him. She has a great sense of humour and they’ll make a fab TV couple.�

Meanwhile Wanadoo reports that

“TV presenter Matthew Wright is the latest addition to the contestant lineup. Others in talks to join the show include Sophie Anderton, Emma Noble, Cheeky Girls Monica and Gabriela Irimia, former boyband star Abs and Lee Latchford-Evans.”

Let The Ratings War Begin!

Its official, ITV have now announced on their website that they plan to go head to head with this years series of Big Brother 7 in a bid to claw back some of the viewers they lose to the show each summer.

May will begin with an 8 night series of Celebrity X Factor for which all three judges (Sharon Osbourne, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh) are all now signed up for the show, which means that Louis must have got the pay rise he demanded last week.

As soon as X Factor ends, ITV then plan to launch Celebrity Love Island which will run for almost the length of the Big Brother series.

I can’t wait until the summer! Let the war begin!

Sophie Anderton To Appear on Celebrity Love Island

Troubled model Sophie Anderton, more famous for her addictions than her modelling is rumoured to be signed up for this years series of Celebrity Love Island.

Sophie has already appeared on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2004, and was considered by producers as a big hit.

A source said: “It’s early days yet but Sophie ‘ is excited about it. Anyone would jump at the chance of being sent to a fantasy island with 12 other gorgeous stars.

“If she gets it will be just what she needs to boost her career. She had a tough time last year after splitting up with her fiancŽ Mark Alexiou.

“But she’s determined to get her life back on track.”

Brendan Cole Signs Up For Celebrity Love Island

This years series of Celebrity Love Island is already being planned and is due to go head to head with Channel 4’s Big Brother later this year.

The rumour mill is starting to grind, and the first piece of gossip to emerge is that Brendan Cole of Strictly Come Dancing has been signed for the summer show.

A source told The Sunday Mirror that

“Brendan is shameless when it comes to pursuing women - he’s perfect for the show,”

“What would be better for him than to spend seven weeks with a team of beauties in one of the world’s most beautiful settings. It’s Brendan’s idea of heaven.”

Better still the word is that he will be paid £80,00 to do so!

Big Brother 2006 Will Be Extended And Go Head To Head With Celebrity Love Island!

In a bid to tackle competition from ITV this summer Channel 4 will be making changes to Big Brother 2006’s airing time and length this year.

By extending the run of the Big Brother show to 13 weeks and moving it from 10pm to a more primetime slot, Channel 4 hopes to see off competition from ITV shows such as Celebrity Love Island, Soccer Idol and Celebrity Pop Idol.

“ITV went for us last year with Celebrity Love Island but I don’t know that they thought it was a marvellous success,” Kevin Lygo, C4’s director of television, told Broadcast. “This year they’ll throw Coronation Street all over the place too.”
