Child Of Our Time: The Will To Win
Child Of Our Time, the BBC’s unique documentary series that follows the lives of 25 children from their birth in 1999 and 2000, returns for its seventh year.
Under the watchful eye of Professor Robert Winston, the programme continues with the children on their journey into adulthood.
Most people will have heard of the saying: “Give me a child until they are seven, and I will show you the man”, but is there any truth in this statement? Does a bad start in life scupper chances of success or can having an inner drive and determination see you through? The Will To Win explores the psychology of success and follows the lives of five of the families who are all striving – in very different circumstances – to give their children the best start in life.
Through the Child Of Our Time children, viewers see there is no doubt that the environment in which we grow up, and the messages we get from our parents, play an enormous role in shaping us into the adults we become. And even with all the opportunities in the world and the inner drive to succeed, life has a horrible way of throwing obstacles in the path to success. The programme explores whether setbacks work against us or whether they can build resilience against future hardships and actually increase chances of living a successful life.
The children featured in this programme are James Cachia, William Roberts, Megan Davies, Charlie Plaster and Eve Scarborough.
