ITV bosses have lined up an amazing treat for all you Dancing On Ice fans, they have managed to talk some of the world biggest legends in the world of ice skating, to take to the rink as part of a special one off show.

It has been claimed that producers had to beg, plead and cajole with show judge Katarina Witt to return to the rink for the first time in four years and as part of the special Olympics themed show, she will be joined on the ice by fellow judge Robin Cousins and of course head coaches Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

All four stars have picked up Olympic medals during their successful careers. Robin Cousins took a gold medal in the Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York, in 1980.

Witt won two Olympic gold medals for East Germany, first in the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics and the second in 1988 at the Calgary Olympics.

Torvill and Dean picked up a gold medal for ice dancing at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics and a bronze at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer.

Insiders say that as the stars all competed against one another at various points in the careers, it was tough to get them to agree to a one of performance, however the promise of huge ratings a a return to the spotlight swung it and the experts will all take to the rink together later in the series.

A show source told The Sun: “It sounds like a no-brainer, getting all four to dance, but it wasn’t easy. Jayne and Chris are billed as the show legends so asking their rival Olympic medallist to perform on the same bill was tricky.

“Luckily they have agreed, so we’ve got a belter of a show lined up. Jayne and Chris are spearheading the routine that is likely to see them all dance together.

“It will be great for Katarina to skate as she hasn’t really been on the ice since 2008. Robin is also nervous as he hasn’t been on the ice for years either.”

Dancing On Ice will be back on our screens in just a few weeks’ time and ITV have released the trailer below for the new series.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean feature in the clip, which we have to admit is quite exciting and really does build anticipation for the new run.

We love the bit when Chris is spinning on the rink with two sparking flares in his hand and the way he throws Jayne at the end seems to defy gravity.

The trailer must have been recorded a while ago, as Sylvain Longchambon looks in fighting fit form in the clip, however it was revealed recently that he will have to sit out the first few shows of the series, after injuring his arm during rehearsals with Sugababes star Heidi Range.

When the show returns, it will be with an almost completely new judging panel, as Katarina Witt and Louie Spence will replace Jason Gardiner and Emmas Bunton at the table with Robin Cousins.

The presenting team will be different too, with Christine Bleakley replacing Holly Willoughby as Phillip Schofield’s newest side kick.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have admitted that they have quite the wish list each year for their ITV show, Dancing On Ice.

The former Olympic champions will return to our screens for a new series in January (we have the rumoured lineup here) and they told The Daily Record that they love having sportsmen on the show.

Chris admitted:

“We did talk about David Beckham. He likes music so hopefully he has rhythm.

“We like the idea of an athlete from a different sport.

“You assume they are going to be good physically, but they aren’t always co-ordinated as far as dancing goes. Beckham would be great.”

The show will return with a slightly different presenting team this year, after it was announced that Holly Willougby would be moving to BBC’s The Voice and instead, Christine Bleakley would join Phillip Schofield on Dancing On Ice.

Dean has issued a warning to the star, adding:

“We wish Holly all the luck in the world, but we are excited to welcome Christine.

“I have to tell you though, Phillip can skate, so she’s going to have to get those white skates on.”

Christoper Dean has claimed that Sam Attwater will overcome his injuries for this week’s Dancing On Ice final.

The Olympic ice skating champion, who coaches the contestants on the ITV series, was referring to the rib injury which Sam sustained during rehearsals this week and though he admits that his fall was ‘dramatic,’ he thinks he will do well on the weekend’s series finale.

Speaking on Loose Women, Dean said:

He had a dramatic fall and really hurt his ribs. But he’s come back and I think he is really really strong. Technically he is really good, because he has also performed in the theatre so he’s a song and dance man. He has all those bits about him, he knows how to show off and he really is a good technical skater as well.

Chris also thinks Chloe has been one to watch this series, admitting that he can’t believe how much she has changed over the weeks. He told Kate Thornton:

She’s great. She was like a schoolgirl to begin with and now she’s nurtured and channelled her thoughts and energies into performing.

Dean is looking forward to Sunday night’s show, mostly because the result is so hard to predict. He said that no one can call it adding:

They’ve all been in the skate off, they’ve all been at the top of the leaderboard and now they’re all in the final. It’s great for a final because nobody can call it.

Dancing On Ice star Jayne Torvill has admitted that while she and Christopher Dean enjoy a lot of chemistry on the rink, she could never be married to the star.

The pair have been performing together for the last 36 years but have a very different approach to their work. In a chat with Metro, Jayne said that their differences would make a marriage or relationship very different.

She said:

“I like to switch off. He’s more intense. I love it as much as he does – I just can’t live with it 24 hours. I think if I was married to Chris I’d find it very difficult.

“His best qualities are enthusiasm and intensity, but in a way they’re also his worst, as sometimes you’re not ready for that.”

Christopher admitted that if they were together all the time, discussing the mundane and boring aspects of everyday life, it would take away from their chemistry on the ice.

He said: “I do feel we’re trying to be magical when we perform. If we had just been discussing the shopping, it would be difficult because we’re geared up to making a moment on the ice.

“Yes, it is romantic what we do. The passion for it is. But that’s just part of our world.”

Jayne is married and has two children with her manager Phil Christensen.

Dean is currently dating Dancing On Ice coach Karen Barber and has previously been married twice.

Christopher Dean has jumped to the defence of his new girlfriend Karen Barber and hit out at Jason Gardiner who recently mocked her on Dancing On Ice.

The former Olympic champion was furious when Gardiner implied that Barber’s opinion no longer matters on the ITV show and said that the dance expert “went too far”.

Speaking of the incident, Christopher said: “Sometimes he crosses the line and that was one of those times. He went too far.”

However, he admitted ‘Dancing On Ice’ on the whole has gone for a harder edge this series as show bosses hoped to “up the game”.

He told Radio Times magazine: “That’s all happened consciously. We’ve come to a new studio, a new set, and there was a desire to up the game.”

Meanwhile, Christopher’s professional skating partner and fellow ‘Dancing On Ice’ mentor Jane Torvill explained the whole process of the celebrity skating show is more “stressful” for Christopher than her.

She added: “He gets more stressed than I do, tries to take on the lighting, the camera angles, everything. He’ll say he’s not going to get involved. Yeah right. I can read him like a book.”

STV reports that Dancing on Ice stars Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have confirmed that there will changes to the format of this year’s series final.

Speaking to host Jeff Brazier on This Morning today, Jayne and Christopher explained that that they wanted to “revamp” the final this year, and ultimately decided that they would take out the flying routines.

Christopher said, “The flying has gone away but this year we are really excited because we are doing a showcase routine.

“The celebrities get to decide about the routine with other professionals in it…

“They will be involved in styling it, they are involved with the concept, the lighting and the costumes.”

He further confirmed that the finale of this year’s show would be keeping the iconic feature, the ‘Bolero’ round.

He added, “The showcase will be about them and how they entertain. The two who have entertained the most will then go forward to compete head-to-head with their version of the Bolero.”

The show concludes on ITV1 next week.

Barber, who has been friends with the ITV show star for 30 years, ended her 21 year marriage to Stephen Pickavance (who also works on the ITV show) last May, and insisted that both her’s and Deans marriages were over before anything began between them.

But now it would seem that wasn’t entirely the case, as Pickavance explains in an opening interview in the News of the World.

In it he tells the newspaper he felt that cracks started to appear in their marriage when they joined the programme in 2006.

He told the News of the World that he “confronted” Dean over his suspicions that he was seeing Barber.

Pickavance is quoted as telling the newspaper: “I managed to pluck up the courage to speak to Chris, to talk man to man. I said to him, ‘Chris, I have to ask you, are you seeing my wife?’

“He looked at me and he said, ‘No Stephen, not at all. Karen and I are just good friends’.

“He said he was sorry to hear that talk of him and my wife had made me ill.

“I told him I’d needed my wife during my bad times but she’d not been there for me – she’d been with him. He was very genuine and I believed him. I said, ‘Chris, I’m really sorry to think this’.”

Speaking of how he discovered the truth He added: “A colleague came in and said they were very sorry to read about Karen and Chris in the papers. I didn’t know that Karen had released a statement confirming the relationship the night before, as they’d been caught kissing. I was choked.

“I’ve been through hell. I’m in pieces and I don’t know how I’ve coped. My life has no future.”

Chloe Madeley has admitted that she has to stop herself from asking her ‘Dancing On Ice’ mentors Jayne Torville and Christopher Dean if they’ve ever had sex.

The 23-year-old TV personality can’t understand how the Olympic champion ice skating partners have never been romantically involved, despite working closely together, often performing romantic and intimate routines, since 1975.

She said: “With Torville and Dean I don’t get it. They said they’ve been skating together since they were 15. I nearly said to them, ‘You never really have … (had sex).’ But then I thought, ‘Really unprofessional Chloe, don’t say that.’

“You’ve got to respect Torville and Dean, but it’s bizarre.”

This year’s series has seen romance blossom between axed ‘Hollyoaks’ actress Jennifer Metcalfe and her partner Sylvain Longchambon, while former ‘EastEnders’ star Sam Attwater and Brianne Delcourt had a brief fling.

However, 23-year-old Chloe insists her relationship with pro skater Michael Zenezini will remain strictly platonic because she is dating Glenn Crickmar and he’s married.

She added to The Sun newspaper: “With me and Michael it’s different because he’s married and I’ve just started a new relationship. But it’s hard because you’re so physical. You spend every day together and I can see how it kind of unfolds naturally.”

Although she is hopeful of going far in the competition, Chloe – the daughter of TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan – believes ‘Loose Women’ star Denise Welch will win.

She said: “Denise is incredibly smart. She is who she is, love her or hate her – and I adore her.”

Chloe Madeley has admitted that she used to have a crush on Christopher Dean when she was a child.

The Dancing On Ice contestant is being mentored by the former Olympic champion on the ITV show and admitted that she is totally ‘starstruck’ to be working with him on a daily basis.

Speaking on The Vanessa Show, Chloe said:

“Oh God, I hope he doesn’t see this. When I was a little girl, he was the embodiment of Prince Charming, whirling Jayne Torvill around in the air. I was totally besotted by him.

“Now I’m totally starstruck to be working with him. It is very embarrassing. When he picks me up in training, I’m half shaking with nerves and half intoxicated.”
