Unexpectedly, Dwain Chambers has been evicted from Cirque De Celebrite tonight. The athlete was in the bottom two with my fave socialite, Isabella Hervey. Louie Spence and Gaby Roslin voted to save Isabella, while Phillip Gandey was the sole vote for Dwain.

It’s hard to say, but from the clips I saw, Dwain appeared to be powerful and competent. However, as Gaby Roslin said, both performers shouldn’t have been in the bottom two tonight – there were worse performers. But hey, no-one ever said the public vote was fair, did they?

I was flicking around tonight and came upon Cirque by chance, so I missed a bit of the start. Dwaine Chambers had just finished and Antonia Okonma was about to start, so here begins the round-up!

Antonia Okonma

Bad Girl actress Antonia took the bungee this evening, but the VT they ran didn’t show much confidence – she has a fear of heights and got motion sickness from the activity. The performance was a bit stilted, but she did a lengthy spin toward the end.

Phillip Gandey said “you looked tense, just let yourself go and you will be fantastic”. Louie Spence was less supportive “I found it a little bit uncomfortable, you over-rotated a lot…it was bad”.

Ritchie Neville

I haven’t seen old Ritchie since he was extracting money from teenage girls with the rest of 5ive. In fairness, he was selling records at the time…

Anyway, the VT sequence showed a very clumsy Ritchie, but his mascara-clad performance was a massive improvement – like one of those kids at school who claimed not to study, but aced exams because he was secretly swotting like crazy.

Doing the ‘balancing on a plank’ trick otherwise known as the roller roller, it wasn’t a bad performance. While Louie enjoyed the act, Phillip said “the whole act was dance, we had about 30 seconds and that was it”. Gaby rose to his defense though.

Stacey Cadman

Stacey is freakishly driven – she takes rigorous notes on each performance and says it’s not about getting the act right, it’s about exceeding the judges expectations. Tonight on the double-trapeze, she effortlessly worked through the routine with flair and precision…all with a smile on her face!

Gaby Roslin raved about the performance, saying she’d raised the bar. Louie gushed about her movement and Phillip was also positive – “the tricks were excellent, that slide to the leg catch was very daring…if you’re as good in a ground discipline then you’re a circus star in the making.”

Isabella Hervey

Still on the double trapeze, the cutest ‘IT girl’ in the show did an amazing job, if not quite as fluid as Stacey. Crass mark of the night goes to the commentator for “I wonder if she’ll be doing that move at her next dinner party…put me down for an invite!”

Phillip said that she needs to believe in herself, and Gaby echoed this. Louie was much more positive with an enthusiastic “ding-dong, well done!”

Dean Holdsworth

Dean returned to the show tonight after a technical error resulted in him being voted off – good choice of song The Boys Are Back In Town. I have to say, a far more confident and accomplished performance compared to Ritchie’s roller roller experience.

Louie and Phillip complimented Dean on being able to pull off a difficult trick, and Gaby was full of praise for his pizzazz.

Shane Lynch

When last we saw Shane Lynch, he was escaping Sophie Anderton’s advances on a tropical island. We’re big fans of Shane at Unreality TV, and we know he’s an intense and very capable guy.

Tonight, Shane took the bungee to the strains of Eminem. He was confident and flamboyant, and looked very professional. Gaby said that she was disappointed by the performance, and that she was left wanting more. Louie claimed it was a safe performance – more interesting than the others, but safe. Phillip felt it was unstructured and asked if Shane was actually following the advice given by the trainer.

Princess Tamara

Polish Princess Tamara took on the double trapeze with some beautiful choreography – there were some amazing moments during the performance. Another cracking comment – “The last time we saw royalty hanging like that was in the 16th century – but she’s doing it voluntarily!”

Phillip said “this evening you showed a confidence that was missing last week.” Gaby said it was very sexy. Louie complimented Tamara on an engaging performance.

Kyal Marsh

Neighbours actor Kyal showed confidence on the roller roller, going so far as to skip while balancing on the roller. He finished off by doing a hand stand!

Louie gushed about Kyal’s performance, saying that he couldn’t wait to “see what the boy from Down Under can come up with next week”. Wipe your mouth Louie, you’re drooling! Phillip praised him for standing out from the crowd. Gaby gave the soundbite – “absolutely sensational”.

Hannah Waterman

Hannah took the bungee, and she was in her element. Where Shane was strictly up and down, Hannah’s performance was much more experimental.

Despite being patchy in places, the judges were all full of praise for Hannah’s performance for being entertaining. Of all the contestants, she was the one who had all the audience chanting.

I missed the first series of Cirque de Celebrite last year. To be honest, the prospect of watching another set of has-been’s pretending to be circus performers was more than even this reality telly fan could stand.

Flicking around tonight though, I landed on Sky One and decided to watch Cirque for a while. Nothing else on tonight, so it couldn’t hurt.

I’m going to do a round-up post later, but on initial impressions, Cirque looks good. I’ve been disappointed by X Factor thus far. Strictly Come Dancing looked interesting on Saturday, despite Brucie’s attempts to turn it into a Royal Variety show circa 1968.

Cirque is one of those shows that takes celebrities and totally puts them through the mill. I love that – take these people out of their comfort zones and throw them into something they’re not prepared for. It’s the most real reality TV I’ve seen recently – although the celebrity credentials are spurious at best, I’m certain most of these folks have never attempted circus tricks before.

What does that mean? Well, nobody wants to make an arse of themselves on national TV (well, normal people don’t). That means these people have to really train for this. And it’s not like dancing – you’re at least on terra firma – the circus, as we were reminded tonight, is an art form.

Any other Cirque watchers out there?

Emily Scott has revealed that she hopes to wow the male spectators of Cirque De Celebrite this year by wearing a range of revealing costumes.

“I am hoping my outfits will get sexier as the show goes on,” Emily told the Daily Star Sunday. “Maybe I should wear less and less each week. That is a good reason for all the boys out there to vote for me.

“If I get to the final I will just wear two tassels over my boobs. Now that really would be a show-stopper!”

GMTV presenter Jenni Falconer is set to move away from her good girl image and sex things up for the new series of Cirque De Celebrite.

Jenni will be presenting the Sky One extravaganza which launches tomorrow night. She told Sun online: “One of the advantages of hosting a big show is that you get to have a great outfit and there’s 10 shows so that means 10 great outfits.

“They’ve been designed by a team of stylists which is really exciting.”

She added:

“So as opposed to GMTV, which I wear my own clothes for, this time I’ve got someone designing dresses which are made to measure using couture fabric.

“They’ll be brightly coloured, ridiculously over the top and very sexy. Outfits that will look really in place in the big top; we’re talking glitter, sparkles, feathers – all the extras will be in there,” revealed Jenni.

Shane Lynch has just returned from honeymoon last week, and immediately he has been thrown into circus training, in the hope that he will be ready for the first live Cirque De Celebrite show on Sky One this Sunday.

Shane was the last celebrity to start training, and he has revealed that mastering the trapeze, isn’t as easy as it looks!

He told Teletext: “I didn’t realise how extreme it would be going from being on honeymoon to this.

“It’s been a hard hit. It’s so physically demanding and to see how the others are progressing means I’ve got to do some big style catching up.

“I’ve been away lapping it up, eating and drinking. I’m a stone and a half overweight. So to start hanging from the ceiling … Oh man!

“But it’s going good and I feel confident.”

Australian model Emily Scott has vowed to take her Cirque De Celebrite training more seriously after being injured this week.

“I’ve had my first injury. But training is going really well, it’s so much fun, the first week just felt like we were in one big playground,” Emily told the Daily Star Sunday.

“The fun didn’t last long and we realised we were in a proper circus, learning serious circus stunts,” she continued. “Last week it got real, which kind of woke us up a bit. No more playing around now – this stuff is dangerous.”

The show kicks off on Sky One next Sunday.

Big Brother star and recent competitor on ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen, Brian Dowling, has signed up to yet another reality TV show.

However, this time round Brian won’t be competing for the winners title, but rather he will be co-hosting the show with GMTV star Jenni Falconer and carrying out back stage interviews.

Sky One reality TV show, Cirque De Celebrite has signed up no less than three Love Island stars. Australian actress Emily Scott, ex-Boyzone member Shayne Lynch and socialite Lady Isabella Harvey have decided to take part in the show which sees them learn and show off skills in various circus acts.

Other stars appearing on the show will be children’s TV star Stacey Cadman, Princess Tamara, ex-EastEnder Hannah Waterman and Bad Girls star Antonia Okonma for the girls and Neighbours actor Kyal Marsh (Boyd Hoyland), athlete Dwain Chambers, ex-footballer Dean Holdsworth, Casualty star Luke Bailey and former Five singer Ritchie Neville for the boys.

Jenni Falconer will take over Ruby Wax’s presenting role and the series will start on October 7

Former Boyzone singer (?) Shane Lynch has signed up as a contestant on Sky One’s Cirque De Celebrite.

The former Love island contender will begin training for the show when he returns from honeymoon later this month.

An insider said: “Shane’s really excited about doing the show.

“He’s fitter than ever so the circus stunts should be no problem for him.”
