Simon Cowell is well known for his bad hair. No matter what he seems to do with it, or how he gets it cut, the wiry locks often resemble a black garden hedge, balanced on top of his head….so it was only a matter of time before someone tried to put it right.

It has been reported that at last week’s Britain’s Got Talent auditions in Cardiff, hair stylist Marcello Marino showed up and for his tryout, said he was going to restyle the music mogul’s hair in 40 seconds.

We don’t want to spoil the fun by telling you how the TV boss responded, but let’s hope the audition is shown when the show returns to our screens this April on ITV1.

Of course, it isn’t the first time the 42 year old hair dresser has attempted to gain fame by following the TV route.

Last year Marcello was forced to contact police, after more than 1,000 people sent him hateful messages, following a controversial appearance on Channel 4′s Come Dine With Me.

The twitter abuse started after the handsome wannabe told one fellow contestant that her main course was ‘like a sick bag’ and hit out at another saying ‘it’s a shame about your hair’.

Singer Brian Kennedy is being hotly tipped to cook up a storm in the kitchen. The Belfast man is the 9/4 favourite with Paddy Power to win the first ever Irish series of Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

Filming of the popular cooking show has already begun and will be broadcast on Irish TV next month. The four celebrities joining Brian Kennedy in putting on an apron for charity are Mr Showbiz and Daily Mirror Editor Paul Martin at 11/4, former Miss Universe Ireland and Tipperary native Rozanna Purcell at 10/3, TV3’s Noel Cunningham also at 10/3 and actor George McMahon at 7/2.

The winning celebrity will not only get to show off their culinary skills but they’ll also win €1,000 for their chosen charity.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “If there’s one ingredient this bunch of cel ebrities aren’t short of it’s ego! There’ll be plenty of sparks flying and lots of heat in the kitchen when this mixed bag of personalities go head to head in the kitchen!”

Paddy Power are also quoting odds on which of the celebs will get the lowest score. Former Fair City actor George McMahon is the 5/2 favourite to finish last followed further down the list by Noel Cunningham at 3/1.

And for those who love a bit of drama, there are 4/1 odds available that one of the celebrities will spot a hair in their food and 12/1 that someone will get a dose of food poisoning!

Tonight on Channel 4, Come Dine with Me is served with a twist.

All the contestants – or should that be housemates – are former Big Brother winners. Stepping up to the plate are Brian Dowling, Nadia Almada, Brian Belo and Sophie Reade.

During Brian’s dinner party, hosted at his mums house in Essex, he manages to persuade Sophie Reade to lock lips with him.

“He got me really drunk so I gave Brian a cheeky kiss. I have got lots of things in common with him. He is very immature and so am I. That is why we get on so well,” she told The Sun.

However, she regretted the snog the next day, and told Belo:

“I don’t want to ruin our friendship. I don’t want to cross the line.”

Troubled TV presenter Michael Barrymore came out as gay 15 years ago, but is now claiming that he is straight again…..and dating a female blonde bombshell!

The former Strike It Lucky host hit the headlines after in 2001 after 31-year-old meat inspector Stuart Lubbock was found dead in his swimming pool. After the tragedy, Barrymore was cautioned by police for cannabis use, but faced no other charges. In 2006 the star went on to finish in second place on Channel 4′s Celebrity Big Brother.

He often talked about being gay during his time on Big Brother, yet earlier this week the 58 year old was spotted smooching with a mystery blonde in Cannes and talking during a recent episode of Channel 4′s Come Dine With Me Barrymore told former Generation Game host Anthea Redfern : “I’m having a going back in party soon. Would you like to come?”

When Anthea asked, “What’s that?” he replied: “Well, I came out didn’t I – but I’m going back in.”

He went on to admit that he had met a ‘nice blonde girl’ but refused to reveal her identity saying:

“She’s a very good friend, but I can’t say because of the situation. I’ll leave that to your imagination.”

Barrymore’s appearance on Come Dine With Me will air at 9pm on Monday on C4.

Channel 4 is giving dinner party hosts across the country the chance to show-off their dinner party skills with the launch today of Come Dine With Me Homemade. For the first time viewers uploading photographs of their dinner party to the Channel 4 website, www.channel4.com/dine, can create their own mini-episodes of the cult series by adding themed music, Come Dine With Me captions and even sound bites from legendary narrator Dave Lamb.

Anyone who has taken pictures of their dinner party can go to the site and create their very own Come Dine With Me episode. Site users can:

* Upload their photos and write captions
* Add sound bites from Come Dine With Me’s legendary narrator, Dave Lamb
* Add themed imagery and music to accompany their photos
* Connect with Facebook to add guest names
* Hit submit to create a unique memento of their night – their very own mini Come Dine With Me episode

The site uses Facebook’s Connect technology to allow site users to share their slideshow with their friends on Facebook, literally bringing their online identity to the party.

And that’s not all!

All slideshows submitted to the Come Dine With Me Homemade site will be entered into a competition to find Britain’s best dinner party host. The slideshows will be judged by a Channel 4 team and a new winner crowned every six weeks, with fabulous prizes up for grabs.

A wintry edition of Celebrity Come Dine With Me sees six-times married former newsreader Jan Leeming in an intriguing battle with former Eastender and life-long bachelor Dave “Keith” Spinx, the ultimate undercover reporter Donal McIntyre and Eurovision popstress turned R & B diva, Javine.

Over four very different dinner parties there’s love, lust, nudity, tears and a fancy dress disco before one of them walks away with the ?1000 charity prize.

Kicking off the week is Donal ‘tough nut’ McIntyre, whose friends won’t come to dinner in case “a bullet meant for me hits them!” That should reassure his celebrity guests…. Unfortunately this means Donal is not the most experienced host and his last minute decision to serve ox cheek instead of braised beef may be one he lives to regret.

Still, at least 68-year-old Jan’s there to divert attention away from the food with talk of her recent nude photo shoot…enough to leave bachelor Dave hot and flustered!

Night two sees Javine attempt to inject some youthfulness in to proceedings with a disco theme including full fancy dress – pink leg warmers and all!

And after detecting a spark between single Jan and bachelor Dave, Donal and Javine have come up with a sneaky plan – spending the whole night leaving the two singletons alone as much as possible…subtle it isn’t, but effective it is! Come the disco dancing session, Jan and Dave are inseparable, dancing cheek to cheek and sharing accessories. Could this be the start of a beautiful new relationship? To top off a bizarre night Javine cooks up some amazing old family recipes followed by a novel dessert of… Fried Balls!

Day three and it’s Dave’s turn; it might not be the most fine of dining experiences, but what he can provide is a bit of a knees up – which prompts an unexpected duet between Jan and Javine. David himself is more at home on the ukulele or giving a cookery demonstration – he may be a surprise foodie, but he still struggles to get a cake from a tin.

Concluding the celebrity soirees is Lady Leeming – attempting to make a cheese souffl?…without any cheese, before also providing music, although as you’d expect – her entertainment has to be high brow. Favourite celebrity meetings are discussed, including talk of Jan’s near miss with Omar Shariff, and David finally gets to see Jan’s nude photo. It’s an emotional end to the week and there are a few tears before one of them wins the ?1000 charity prize.
