Speaking of his 17 point score last night, Craig told the PA, “That’s disgraceful, I can’t believe that.”

He added that he thought the judges had been far too harsh on his Cha Cha.

However, as he left the show, Craig said, “I feel amazing really. It’s great that I made it to Blackpool.”

Meanwhile, ex-Eastender Ricky Groves was saved by the judges vote and apparently all the judges are “backing him to stay”.

Ali Bastian sailed through with a perfect score of 40 for her Viennese waltz, and second on the leader board was another Hollyoaks actor, Ricky Whittle who scored 35 points for his Tango.

Last night’s show was broadcast from the famous Tower Ballroom where the dance floor is around twice the size of that which the dancers are used to, however, despite Bruce Forsyth commenting that the floor felt “like a trampoline”, it clearly suited some of the contestants.

And an appearance by Jill Halfpenny went down a storm and showed she’s lost none of her dancing panache since 2004 when she won the show.

Craig Kelly has claimed that he won’t make the Strictly Come Dancing final but said that he is happy to have made it as far as the Blackpool stage of the show.

Speaking on Channel 4′s Paul O’Grady show, he said: “I’m happy because I won’t make the final. I’m just okay and the others are great.

“I am so happy to be going to Blackpool this weekend though. It was my absolute goal to make it there.”

Kelly also admitted that he was sure he’d be a better at dancing as his Grandma was once a ballroom dancer.

“My mum told me that our gran was a great ballroom dancer in her time. I thought, ‘great, I’ve got a bit of a chance then’,” he said. “I thought I’d be much better than I am. Just goes to show doesn’t it?”

Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Kelly has insisted that he is not aspiring to be a comedy figure like John Sergeant, despite his apparent lack of dancing skills.

John won the hearts of the British public last year with his awful dancing and jolly nature, but Craig insists that he has more potential than that.

The former Coronation Street actor told The Sun:

“I am certainly the underdog right now, but I would like to think the public think I have got potential and am not just a bit of a character.

“I didn’t come into this show to be known as someone who couldn’t dance.

“I think what the judges are doing to me is a bit of tough love. My dance partner Flavia knows there is a good dancer in me.

“We have seen it in training, but I haven’t quite managed to fire on all cylinders and that is frustrating.”

Craig Kelly has revealed that he has a bit of a split personality on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The Coronation Street star, who plays Weatherfield’s Luke Strong, said that he adopts the mannerisms of a Spanish man when performing on the show.

“I’ve got a Spanish chap, who is basically helping me out,” he told It Takes Two. “He’s called Pablo.”

Kelly joked: “He’s a Spanish gentleman, who used to work with bulls. He owns a couple of restaurants.”

The 38-year-old soap star also revealed that he and his fellow males dancers, will be sporting the tangoed tan look this week. “You need to be slightly orange I think,” he said.

Soap hunks Ricky Whittle and Craig Kelly are said to have developed an amicable rivalry, which sees each trying to outdo the other on the set of Strictly Come Dancing.

As the pair prepare for tomorrow night’s launch show Craig – who plays Luke Strong in Corrie – told The Sun:

“Ricky looks like he can move a bit and that’s keeping me on my toes.

“We are really enjoying the banter and a bit of healthy competition.”

But the rivalry is such they are trying to stitch each other up with bogus advice.

Ricky added: “I’m a bit cautious of Craig’s tips.

“When he told me to put Vaseline in my socks, was it to make me slip?

“He’s always doing kung fu kicks in rehearsals, and you can never trust a ninja.”

Craig laughed: “We had this joke where I was saying he’s a bit like Superman.

“Then he put these Superman pants on over his jeans as a laugh in rehearsals.

“He really is far too hunky – I’m going to have to find myself some Kryptonite.”

I don’t mind which boy wins to be honest. As long as we get to see them both in their fair share of lycra costumes I’ll be happy!

Coronation Street star Craig Kelly has admitted that he had never danced before signing up for Strictly Come Dancing. In fact the actor has admitted that he is terrified about appearing on the show this Friday.

In an interview with the Daily Record Craig said: “I did laugh to myself, if I am totally honest, when I got the call. I never thought I’d have the courage to do it. The thought terrified me.

“But when I met up with Strictly at the BBC, they were so lovely, I just could not turn them down.

“Part of me loves a new challenge and I just thought I should give it a go.”

Craig is thrilled with his dance partner saying that Flavia is “one of the best” on Strictly.

He said: “Flavia is just so cool and brilliant. She is very, very patient and she is a great teacher.

“The good thing is we get on really well. She is a laugh and, yes, it is work, but I am having a lot of fun with her.

“I am really lucky to have landed Flavia as my dancing partner.”

Craig Kelly (Strictly Come Dancing partner is Flavia Cacace)

The star of some of British TV’s most critically-acclaimed and best-loved shows, actor Craig Kelly is currently residing on Corrie, the nation’s favourite Street, where as Luke Strong he has the Weatherfield ladies falling at his feet.

For over a decade, Mancunian Craig has been winning praise for his roles in multi-award-winning drama series from Queer As Folk, where he starred as the loveable Vince, to Hotel Babylon.

Craig says: “Last year I watched the series and said it was the only show like this I would appear on. And here I am! It looks like a lot of fun and like a huge adventurous challenge and I was a fan of the show for many years. My wife thought that it would be great for future moves on the dance floor!”
